    In the 11 months of the fiscal year 2080/081 BS, Nepal’s trade deficit has reached Rs 1337.39 billion. According to the data released by the Department of Customs, imports amounted to approximately Rs 1481 billion, while exports stood at Rs 143.58 billion until the end of the month Jestha.     Internationally, gold is currently priced at $1,931.30 per ounce, and silver is priced at $23.33 per ounce.

    In addition to the drop in gold prices, the price of silver also decreased by Rs. 20 per tola. The current trading rate for silver in the local market is Rs. 1,415 per tola, whereas it closed at Rs. 1,435 per tola the previous day.

    As for the international market, the current price of gold is recorded at USD $1,947.50 per ounce, while silver is being traded at $23.59 per ounce.

    Yesterday, the price of gold reached an unprecedented high, with tejabi gold priced at Rs. 111,950 per tola and fine gold at Rs. 112,500 per tola. Alongside this, silver has also witnessed an increase of Rs. 25 per tola. Currently, silver is being traded in the local market at Rs. 1,435 per tola, compared to yesterday’s closing rate of Rs. 1,410 per tola.

    Gold prices have once again grabbed attention as they reached a record high today. The surge in value amounts to a significant single-day gain of Rs. 1500 compared to yesterday’s price.

    According to the official website of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 112,000 per tola, whereas it was maintained at Rs. 110,500 per tola yesterday. Similarly, Tejabi gold is being traded at Rs. 111,450 today, whereas the rate was held at Rs. 109,950 per tola on the previous day.

    Within a span of two days, the price of gold has risen by Rs. 3900 per tola. The fluctuation in gold and silver prices is partly attributed to the absence of a clear response regarding customs rates related to these precious metals in the budget for 2080/081.

    Just recently, on May 4th, 2023, the price of gold hit an all-time high in the Nepalese market. Fine gold was traded at Rs. 111,800 per tola, while Tejabi gold reached Rs. 111,250 per tola on that day.

    In addition, silver has also experienced a gain of Rs. 20 per tola. The shiny white metal is currently being traded at Rs. 1,395 per tola in the local market, compared to the previous day’s closing rate of Rs. 1,375 per tola.

    Nepal’s trade deficit for the first ten months of the current fiscal year has remained at Rs. 12.04 Kharba, according to the recently released Nepal Trade Statistics by the Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 15.85% compared to the trade gap of Rs. 14.31 Kharba during the same period in the previous fiscal year. Both imports and exports have also witnessed a decline of 16.78% and 24.49% respectively when compared to the corresponding period of FY 2078/79.

    During the first ten months of FY 2079/80, Nepal’s imports amounted to Rs. 13.35 Kharba, with petroleum products being the top imported commodity, followed by crude soya bean oil and crude palm oil. On the other hand, the country’s exports reached Rs. 1.3 Kharba, experiencing a significant drop compared to the previous year’s figures.

    It is noteworthy that Nepal’s trade deficit has narrowed in the review period, indicating some improvement in the overall trade balance. However, the decline in both import and export values suggests challenges in the external trade sector, which require attention and strategic measures to promote trade growth.

    Please note that the provided data is based on the first ten months (Shrawan-Baishakh) of FY 2079/80, which corresponds to the period from mid-July 2022 to mid-May 2023.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association’s official website, fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 110,000 per tola, compared to yesterday’s rate of Rs. 111,100 per tola. Tejabi gold, on the other hand, is being traded at Rs. 109,500 today, in contrast to yesterday’s rate of Rs. 110,550 per tola.

    Additionally, silver has also witnessed a decrease in price, with a drop of Rs. 5 per tola. The current trading rate for silver in the local market is Rs. 1,370 per tola, compared to yesterday’s closing rate of Rs. 1,365 per tola.

    In the international market, the current price of gold stands at $1,989.70 per ounce, while silver is trading at $23.75 per ounce.

As per the official website of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold is being traded today at Rs. 111,800 per tola, while Tejabi gold is being traded at Rs. 111,250. This is a significant increase from yesterday’s rate of Rs. 110,600 and Rs. 110,050 per tola for fine gold and Tejabi gold, respectively.

    This recent surge in the price of gold follows the previous all-time high recorded on April 5th, 2023, when fine gold was traded at Rs. 111,000 per tola and Tejabi gold at Rs. 110,450 per tola. Silver has also seen a rise in its price, with a gain of Rs. 20 per tola. The white metal is currently being traded at Rs. 1,445 per tola in the local market, up from yesterday’s closing rate of Rs. 1,425 per tola.

    In the international market, gold was traded at around $2,015.60 per ounce as of yesterday. However, the current rate of gold in the international market has reached USD $2,044.50 per ounce, while silver is being traded at $25.69 per ounce. It is worth noting that gold had reached an all-time high of $2074.88 in August 2020.

    Through 23,388 transactions, 269 scrips changed hands. A total of 2,870,819 shares were traded, totaling Rs. 92.06 crores in turnover. This exceeds the previous trading day’s turnover of Rs. 81.6 Crores.

    SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) shares were the most actively traded, with a total turnover of Rs. 6.43 crores at a market price of Rs. 409 per share.

    Kalinchowk Darshan Limited (KDL) had the highest profit of 9.97%.
