Mero Kitta launched – An online digital map print service

Landowners no longer need to go to the survey office to get a printed map for the purpose of building a home, constructing buildings, or buying and selling after the launch of ‘Mero Kitta.’

The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation’s Department of Surveying and Mapping has begun offering online services as of today.

At a formal ceremony held at the survey department on Thursday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli switched on automated software related to land administration, officially launching the device.

With the aim of providing services online, the department has launched Nepal Land Information System (NeLIS) and Mero Kitta today.

Through the ‘Nepal Land Information System,’ the government will provide map printing, field book printing, and other services to clients right from their homes.

According to the government, the program was started to make survey office services more technologically friendly, hassle-free, efficient, fast, and successful.

The government, according to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, has been concentrating on attracting new investment and technology.

“Both offices are identical. Prime Minister Oli said, “We have changed the way we operate.”

The Mero Kitta program, according to Shivamaya Tumbahangphe, Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, has been launched to eliminate delays at the Land Revenue and Survey Office.

He explained that the Land Revenue and Survey Office’s decision to implement a paperless program is in line with the government’s Digital Nepal initiative.

Teknarayan Pandey, Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation, stated that the online service was launched to eliminate the requirement of queuing in the real estate sector.

Secretary Pandey said, “The current migration trend must resolve the problem of providing clients with services from every local Land Revenue and Survey Office.” “Real estate transactions can be completed over the internet.”

He explained that for digital verification, you must often be present, otherwise it would be done online.

18 of the 126 survey offices around the country are yet to go online.

According to the government, all offices will be able to provide online services and conduct business by the end of the year.

According to Pandey, the ministry has begun work on making it possible to view the entire history of land on the internet.

Institutional transactions, banks, and even small businesses can conduct business online, according to him.

Prakash Joshi, Director General of the Survey Department, said that the service would be available in the survey offices of Kalanki, Dilli Bazaar, and Bhaktapur starting today. It will be available in the offices of Chabahil, Lalitpur, Manmaiju, Tokha, and Saankhu within a day or two.

What is Mero Kitta? How to get Mero Kitta service?

Mero Kitta is a web application that allows you to access some of the services offered by survey offices through the internet from anywhere.

Map printing, plot register printing, field book printing, and field drawing application can all be achieved with the Mero Kitta method. To use the Mero Kitta scheme, clients must have a land ownership certificate and citizenship.

To get the service, ordinary users must go to Mero Kitta’s website and fill out an online application in the specified format. The OTP code is sent to the registered mobile number after the application is submitted. For the duration of the service, the code is needed.

After verifying the service details with the offices, all information about the revenue sum to be billed is collected via SMS.

Clients must have a mobile number and an OTP on the connect IPS platform in order to pay the revenue sum. Payment can also be made via banks using an online voucher provided by the system.

Following payment, a digital copy of the map will be imported from the offices, and details will be sent to the smartphone. To obtain the chart, the client must download it within seven days using the registered mobile number and the office’s OTP.

Meroshare App : Invest and Transfer Shares Through App

CDS and Clearing Limited (CDSC) has launched a mobile app for the investors of the stock market in Nepal. The currently available web portal for it is shifting as Meroshare app now.

CDSC has done an internal test of the app and has successfully passed it. After the success of the internal test, it is being released for the general public today. CDSC has informed that the application will be made public by holding a press conference this evening.

In the first stage, the app is being made public only for Android users. It will be available to download through the Android play store. CDSC has informed that the iOS version of the app is on the way to the market soon.

Until now, Meroshare’s stock software has been operating as a web-based portal. After this launch, you’ll be able to do the IPO investments, share transfers, view your portfolio, etc. from the app itself. The app will have all the services currently available from the web-based meroshare portal.

The company had been facing backlash after the website crashed frequently in times of having high user requests. After shifting to app, this problem is expected to be resolved.

The Cryptocurrency debate: Is legitimacy necessary?

Cryptocurrency, or “decentralized electronic currency,” is gaining popularity around the world these days. Last January, Nepal’s neighbor India published a “National Strategy on Blockchain” to regulate the technology. However, such currencies and transactions are absolutely prohibited in Nepal.

On the Internet recently, there has been a lot of discussion and information concerning cryptocurrencies. However, in Nepal, a correct understanding of this has yet to be created. Many people have heard of Bitcoin and have a basic knowledge of it. People, on the other hand, seemed to comprehend that ‘cryptocurrency’ means ‘bitcoin,’ and that ‘bitcoin,’ in turn, means ‘cryptocurrency.’ Not only the general people, but also the Nepal Rastra Bank, appears to believe this.

Foreign exchange transactions can only be carried out with a license from the Rastra Bank, according to Nepalese legislation. Money must be remitted abroad to trade and invest in bitcoin. The NRB’s declaration on Bitcoin, which came after it was proclaimed that moving money overseas without permission is prohibited, appears to have caused even greater confusion among the people. Investing possibilities

There are many other popular websites that provide constant updates about the capital market such as; Share Sansar and Mero Lagani. Furthermore daily national newspapers, websites of merchant bankers and credit rating agency – icranepal.com – also provide good information.

3. PARTICIPATE IN THE PRIMARY MARKET – APPLY IN PRIMARY OFFERINGS

One of the best opportunities to participate in the capital market is to apply for primary offers in the primary market such as; Initial Public Offering (IPO) or Further Public Offering (FPO). Most companies offer primary issues to the general public at face value of NPR 100 per stock, or at a premium based on their valuations. The risk is lower when you purchase in the primary market as you get an opportunity to buy shares at a lower cost as compared to purchasing those shares in the secondary market once they are listed. Also, look out for opportunities to participate in the primary offering of mutual fund schemes which can be a beginning point.

News about primary issues generally comes out in national newspapers and are widely announced on other media platforms. Once you know the primary issues are out, you can read their prospectus to see their detail information such as; past and projected performance, & management amongst others. You can also look at their credit rating provided by a licensed credit rating agency before making the decision to invest.

4. PARTICIPATE IN THE SECONDARY MARKET– OPEN A TRADING ACCOUNT AT A STOCKBROKER OFFICE

All the stocks offered via the primary market are listed in the secondary market i.e. Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE); currently, there are 231 companies listed in the stock exchange. The secondary market provides the platform to sell the shares you hold or purchase new shares from the market. The share price of these listed companies and the value of NEPSE Index changes every day based on total demand and supply of shares in the market.

If you wish to get involved in the secondary market, you will need to open a transaction account at a stock broker’s office. There are currently 50 stockbrokers licensed by NEPSE while there are a few stock broker offices outside Kathmandu. Once you open an account with a stockbroker, they will provide you with a unique ID code via which all the transactions in your name will be executed.

To make a purchase or sale order you will simply have to call your stock brokers or visit their office to place an order, make sure you have the shares in your DMAT account before you place a sell order to your stockbroker. The stockbroker charges some commission as a brokerage fee for each transaction while you have also have to pay a capital gain tax of 5% if applicable while making sales.

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) – A Short Introduction

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) is the country’s sole stock exchange. It is located in Kathmandu, Nepal, at Singha Durbar Plaza.

In 2033 BS, the government established a security purchasing and trading center in Nepal. In 2050 BS, the same location became the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE).

On January 13, 1994, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) inaugurated its trading floor (29 Poush, 2050). It is Nepal’s sole stock exchange. As of May 13, 2020, the total market capitalisation of the companies listed on NEPSE is around Rs 1.54 trillion.

Objectives of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE)

The primary function of the stock exchange is to facilitate the trading of listed securities. NEPSE has been trying to register publicly issued securities in the secondary market so that they can be traded easily. This is referred to as listing.

The Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) is a specialized government-owned entity governed by the Companies Act. It does business in compliance with the Securities Act. Its principal goal is to assist to the country’s economic development through capital formation and mobilization, as well as to stimulate investor interest by establishing a secondary market for the trading of securities issued by the Government of Nepal and organizations.

Nepse has been a prominent regulatory organization in terms of market operations, listed firms, and securities dealers, in keeping with its goal of trading shares, bonds, mutual fund units, and other securities through member brokers.

At the moment, the Nepal Stock Exchange offers general investors the ability to purchase and sell securities through 50 member brokers and 41 Remote Work Stations (RWS) in key cities both inside and outside the Kathmandu Valley.
