    Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance Shares Listed on NEPSE Following Successful Merger


    Following the successful merger between Prabhu Life Insurance Limited (PLI) and Mahalaxmi Life Insurance Company Limited, a total of 4,29,60,000 shares of the newly formed entity, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance Limited (PMLI), have now been officially listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). This significant development, sanctioned by regulatory authorities and in compliance with the Securities Listing Regulations of 2075, marks the commencement of the trading of the consolidated shares on the Stock Exchange starting from tomorrow.

    The merger agreement between PLI and Mahalaxmi Life Insurance was formalized on the 29th of Ashad, 2080. Under the terms of the merger, a swap ratio of 1:1 was established. The total listed shares for PLI stood at 21,960,000 units, and Mahalaxmi Life Insurance had 21,000,000 units. Consequently, the merger results in a combined total of 42,960,000 unit shares for Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance Limited. This consolidation is expected to have implications for the company’s presence and activities in the stock market, reflecting the integration of resources and operations from both entities.

    The day’s market activity commenced with the index opening at 1986.06, reaching an intraday low of 1,951.02, and achieving an intraday high of 2,022.82.

    During today’s trading session, a total of 295 different stocks were traded in 101,128 transactions. The volume of shares exchanged amounted to 17,166,465, resulting in a total turnover of Rs. 5.15 Arba, marking the highest turnover recorded by NEPSE in the past five and a half months. The market capitalization stood at Rs. 31.19 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 10.84 Kharba.

    Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Limited (HDHPC) led in terms of turnover, reaching Rs. 25.12 crores and closing at a market price of Rs. 146.

    Additionally, eleven companies experienced positive circuit hits during the day. On the downside, Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (HLBSL) incurred the highest loss of 6.77%.

    Regarding sector performance, three sectors closed in the negative, with the “HydroPower Index” witnessing the highest gain of 5.55%, while the “Banking SubIndex” incurred a loss of 0.67%.

    Throughout the day’s trading activities, a total of 299 different stocks were involved in 53,146 transactions. The trading volume reached 9,505,608 shares, leading to a total turnover of Rs. 2.79 Arba. The overall market capitalization was reported at Rs. 28.56 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 9.96 Kharba.

    The stock with the highest turnover was Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited Promoter Share (NRICP), reaching a notable Rs. 86.83 crores.

    Among individual stocks, Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company Limited (TVCL) demonstrated the highest gain at 10%, closely followed by Samaj Laghubittya Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SAMAJ) with a gain of 9.97%.

    However, Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (GILB) experienced the most substantial loss, declining by 7.81% during the day.

    In terms of sector indices, with the exception of the “Trading Index,” all other sector indices concluded in positive territory. The “Non-Life Insurance Index” emerged as the top gainer, registering a gain of 2.11%. Conversely, the “Trading Index” witnessed a loss of 0.50%.

    The price of gold has observed a decline of Rs. 800 per tola today, as reported by the official website of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association. The current value of fine gold is reported at Rs. 1,18,400 per tola, representing a decrease from its stable position the previous day at Rs. 1,19,200 per tola. Simultaneously, Tejabi gold is being traded at Rs. 1,17,850 today, reflecting a reduction of Rs. 800 per tola from its previous rate of Rs. 1,18,650 per tola.

    Contrasting the recent decrease, on December 4, 2023, fine gold had achieved a historic high of Rs. 1,21,600 per tola, and Tejabi gold had surged to Rs. 1,21,000, marking a record at that time.

    Furthermore, silver has also witnessed a decrease of Rs. 20 per tola, with the current market rate standing at Rs. 1,480 per tola, compared to its closing rate of Rs. 1,500 per tola the day before.

    The global decline in gold prices, now at $2,020.50 per ounce, has had a notable impact on the domestic bullion market. Concurrently, silver is being traded at $24.20 per ounce on the international market.

    Api Power Company Limited (API) has successfully listed 1,65,33,137 units of right shares on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). The company had previously issued a 1:0.4 ratio right share to its shareholders, allowing them to apply for these shares from the 31st of Shrawan to the 19th of Bhadra, 2080. Out of the total right shares available, which amounted to 1,65,33,137 units, eligible shareholders submitted applications for 1,53,38,203 units. The allotment of shares was then carried out based on the received applications.

    Following the allotment, API conducted an auction for the remaining 11,94,934 units of unsubscribed right shares, which took place from the 17th to the 24th of Ashwin, 2080. Muktinath Capital served as the auction manager for this process. As of the latest update, API is trading at a Last Traded Price (LTP) of Rs. 168.

    Similarly, Multipurpose Finance Company Limited (MPFL) has listed 15,82,000 units of right shares on NEPSE. The company had earlier issued a 1:0.35 ratio right share to its shareholders, allowing applications from the 10th to the 31st of Bhadra, 2080. Out of the total right shares offered, eligible shareholders applied for 1,439,227 units, and the allotment was done accordingly.

    Subsequently, MPFL conducted an auction for the remaining 1,42,773 units of unsubscribed right shares, which took place from the 29th of Ashwin to the 13th of Kartik, 2080. Muktinath Capital served as the auction manager for this process as well. As of the latest update, MPFL is trading at an LTP of Rs. 278.

    The price of gold, a highly valued precious metal, has witnessed a notable increase of Rs. 700 per tola compared to the trading price recorded on Wednesday. The Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA) reported today that fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 1,15,700 per tola, marking a Rs. 700 uptick from Wednesday’s trading rate of Rs. 1,15,000 per tola.

    In a similar fashion, Tejabi gold is available today at Rs. 1,15,150 per tola, demonstrating a price increase of Rs. 700 in comparison to yesterday’s rate, which stood at Rs. 1,14,450 per tola. It’s worth noting that just on October 29, 2023, gold prices reached historic levels, with fine gold commanding a remarkable price of Rs. 1,17,000 per tola, and Tejabi gold was trading at Rs. 1,16,450 per tola.

    Furthermore, the price of silver has also seen an uptick, with an increase of Rs. 20 per tola. The current market rate for silver stands at Rs. 1,405 per tola, up from yesterday’s closing rate of Rs. 1,385 per tola.

    On the international front, the current rate for gold stands at USD $1,985.30, while silver is being traded at $22.99 per ounce.
