    The stock markets experienced fresh record highs today, with the Sensex surging by 474 points, coming close to reaching the 20,000 mark for Nifty. Among the top gainers, ITC stood out, reaching an all-time high of Rs 492 on the BSE and becoming part of the prestigious Rs 6 trillion market cap club, which includes esteemed companies like Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever, and Infosys.

    Despite some fluctuations in trading, the key domestic indices performed exceptionally well, primarily driven by the excitement surrounding the listing of Jio Financial Services following a special pre-open session for Reliance Industries. The Sensex reached an intraday high of 67,619.17, while the Nifty50 almost touched the significant milestone of 20,000, closing at 19,991.85.

    Sector-wise, most indices concluded the day in positive territory, with the exception of the IT index, which saw a slight decline of 0.66 per cent. Notably, Nifty Pharma, FMCG, healthcare, and Nifty Bank exhibited substantial gains, rising by 1.46 per cent, 1.35 per cent, 1.17 per cent, and 1.13 per cent, respectively. The Nifty Next 50, however, was the only broader market index that experienced a slight drop. Overall, it was a positive and promising day for the markets, with several sectors showcasing significant growth.

    Today, the price of gold has experienced an increase of Rs. 800 per tola in the domestic market. As reported by the official website of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 112,400 per tola, whereas yesterday it was maintained at Rs. 111,600 per tola. Tejabi gold, on the other hand, is being traded at Rs. 111,850 today, compared to yesterday’s rate of Rs. 111,050 per tola.

    In addition, the price of silver has also seen a rise of Rs. 40 per tola. The shiny white metal is currently being traded at Rs. 1,440 per tola in the local market, whereas the closing rate yesterday stood at Rs. 1,400 per tola.

    It is worth noting that in the international market, the current price of gold stands at USD $1,956.10 per ounce, while silver is being traded at $24.17 per ounce.

However, it also dropped to a low of 2,046.55 before closing at 2,049.44. In total, there were 277 scrips traded through 53,103 transactions, with a turnover of Rs. 3.07 Arba, which is higher than the turnover of Rs. 2.57 Arba on the previous trading day.

    Today, the NEPSE index, which represents the stock market in Nepal, concluded at a closing value of 2,094.33 points. It experienced a significant increase of 52.26 points from the previous trading day, representing a gain of 2.56%. In comparison, on Thursday, the index had gained 5.00 points. The trading day started with an opening value of 2,045.06 points and reached its lowest point at 2,037.90 points before eventually closing at the highest point of 2,094.33 points.

    A total of 280 different stocks were traded today, with a notable number of 70,647 transactions taking place. Throughout these trades, a significant amount of shares, totaling 12,095,966, were exchanged, resulting in a turnover amount of Rs. 4.86 Arba. This represents a higher turnover compared to the previous trading day, which had a turnover of Rs. 3.16 Arba.

    The stock that saw the most trading activity and had the highest turnover was SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM), with shares amounting to Rs. 36.64 crores being traded. The closing market price for SHIVM shares stood at Rs. 585 per share.

    Furthermore, seven stocks experienced a gain of 10% each and reached the positive circuit for the day, indicating a significant increase in their market value. On the other hand, Shuvam Power Limited (SPL) recorded the highest loss of 5.58% during today’s trading.

    Among the various sectors, only one sector closed in the negative territory, namely “Banking,” which experienced a decrease of 0.29%. Conversely, the “Life Insurance” sector gained the highest percentage increase of 6.38% during today’s trading.

This indicates a fluctuation of 125.23 points, compared to 84.84 points in the previous week. Technical analysis suggests a bullish trend in both the short-term and mid-term.

    The highest intraday gain occurred on Sunday, with a remarkable increase of 40.48 points and a turnover of Rs 3.45 Arba. The total turnover for the week amounted to Rs 18.64 Arba.

    The NEPSE index experienced significant gains today, closing at 1,980.09 points, which is an increase of 40.48 points from the previous trading day’s closing. This represents a gain of 2.09% in the overall index value. Last Thursday, the index had gained 7.27 points.

    The trading day started with the index opening at 1,941.52 points and reaching its lowest point at 1,941.24 points. However, it climbed as high as 1,983.98 points before settling at 1,980.09 points at the close of trading.

    During the day, a total of 275 scrips were traded through 61,450 transactions. The shares exchanged amounted to 9,528,255, with a turnover value of Rs. 3.45 Arba. This represents an increase compared to the previous trading day’s turnover of Rs. 2.305 Arba. Notably, this is the highest turnover observed in the last four months, since February 8, 2023, when the turnover amounted to Rs. 3.69 Arba.

    Among the traded shares, Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) had the highest turnover of Rs. 11.47 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 2,458 per share. The shares of SNMAPO were the most actively traded.

    In terms of individual stock performance, Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited (BEDC) registered the highest gain of 10%, followed by City Hotel Limited (CITY) with a gain of 9.99%. On the other hand, Global IME Balanced Fund-1 (GIBF1) experienced the highest loss of 3.83% on the day.

    In a positive note, all sector indices closed in the green. The “Finance” sector witnessed the highest gain of 5.72%, while the “Mutual Fund” sector had the lowest gain of 0.42% on the day.

    Interestingly, despite the market being scheduled to open at 11:00 am this morning, all 50 current brokers were still non-operational. In light of this situation, a meeting was arranged with relevant stakeholders at the Ministry of Finance’s Singhadurbar headquarters. During the meeting, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, the current finance minister, emphasized that investors should remain calm and assured them that the only tax applicable to profits from trading shares would be the Capital Gain Tax (CGT).

    The trading day commenced with the index opening at 1,866.35 points. At its lowest point in the intraday session, it reached 1,865.73 points. However, it experienced a significant surge, reaching as high as 1,925.11 points before ultimately closing at 1,919.37 points. These fluctuations throughout the day reflect the dynamic nature of the stock market and the varying levels of investor activity and sentiment.

    Overall, the NEPSE index’s upward movement and the reassurances provided by the finance minister aim to instill confidence among investors and maintain stability in the market.     The price of gold in the local market has reached a new all-time high, increasing by Rs. 500 per tola. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association’s official website, fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 112,500 per tola, while Tejabi gold is being traded at Rs. 111,950 per tola. Yesterday, the rates were maintained at Rs. 112,000 and Rs. 111,450 per tola, respectively.

    Just the day before, gold prices had already reached an all-time high in Nepal, with fine gold priced at Rs. 112,000 per tola and Tejabi gold priced at Rs. 111,450 per tola. The continuous rise in gold prices has prompted discussions on the reasons behind the significant increase of Rs. 3,900 per tola in just two days in Nepal.

    In addition to gold, the price of silver has also experienced an increase of Rs. 15 per tola. Currently, silver is being traded at Rs. 1,410 per tola in the local market, compared to the previous day’s closing rate of Rs. 1,395 per tola.
