    In today’s trading, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index ended at 2,048.26 points, showing a slight decline of 3.21 points or 0.15% compared to yesterday’s close. The index had started the session at 2,051.47 and reached a high of 2,069.73 during the day, but later dipped to a low of 2,030.19 before closing at 2,048.26. This follows a previous loss of 38.37 points on Sunday.

    Nepal saw a significant improvement in its trade balance in fiscal year 2079/80 as trade deficits decreased by 15.45% compared to the previous year 2078/79. This improvement was mainly due to a sharp decline in imports, which dropped by 16.08% during the same period. The government’s strict measures played a crucial role in reducing imports, and according to the Customs Department’s data, the total imports stood at Rs. 16.11 Kharba in the financial year 2079/80.

    The trading day began with the index opening at 2,097.99 and witnessed fluctuations throughout. It reached an intraday low of 2,089.16, indicating some downward momentum, but also achieved an intraday high of 2,144.60 before settling at its closing value of 2,144.16.

    A total of 257 scrips were exchanged through 50,299 transactions during the day’s trading. The volume of shares traded amounted to 7,634,190, resulting in a turnover of Rs. 2.56 Arba.

    Among the stocks, SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) had the highest turnover, with a value of Rs. 14.86 crores, and closed at a market price of Rs. 662. The shares of PRSF recorded the highest trading volume.

    In terms of individual stock performance, BPW Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (BPW) recorded the highest gain of 10%, while United Ajod Insurance Limited (UAIL) rose by 9.99%, reaching the positive circuit for the day. On the other hand, Kumari Dhanabriddhi Yojana (KDBY) experienced the highest decline of 8.37%.

    In terms of sector indices, only the “Mutual Fund” sector closed in the red, with a decline of 0.49%. The “Development Bank” sector showed the highest gain, increasing by 4.14%, while the “Others” sector experienced the smallest gain of 1.32%.

    Overall, the NEPSE index witnessed a significant surge in today’s trading session, accompanied by notable individual stock performances and sector movements.

    In terms of trading activity, 285 scrips were traded through 49,944 transactions. The total shares exchanged amounted to 7,454,007, with a turnover of Rs. 2.88 Arba. This figure represented a decrease compared to the turnover of Rs. 3.45 Arba recorded in the previous trading day.

    Soaltee Hotel Limited (SHL) accounted for the highest turnover of Rs. 15.28 crores, with its market price closing at Rs. 375.30 per share. The shares of SSHL were the most actively traded.

    Five scrips experienced a significant gain of 10%, reaching the positive circuit during the day’s trading activities. On the other hand, Prabhu Smart Fund (PRSF) incurred a loss of 10% during the session.

    Among the sector indices, six closed in the green, with the “Hotels and Tourism” sector gaining the highest at 10.78%. However, the “Finance” sector recorded the highest loss of 0.96% during the day’s trading activities.

    NABIL Bank Limited Promotor Share (NABILP) was the most traded stock and had the highest turnover of Rs. 4.5 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 474 per share. NIBL Growth Fund (NIBLGF) gained the highest 9.86% for the day, while NMB Debenture 8.50% – 2087/88 (NMBD87/88) lost the highest 5.85%.

    All sector indices closed in the green, with “Non-Life Insurance” gaining the highest 1.55%, and “Investment” gaining the least 0.32% today.
