    Gold prices in the Nepalese market are soaring, reaching near an all-time high. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold is now being traded at Rs. 113,500 per tola, experiencing an astonishing rise of Rs. 800 in just one day from yesterday’s rate. This surge follows a significant increase of Rs. 500 per tola on Wednesday.

    The overall market capitalization amounted to Rs. 3.12 Trillion, with the float market capitalization at Rs. 1.105 Trillion.

This decline follows a significant surge of 63.24 points on the previous trading day. The index started the session at 2,227.21 and reached its highest point at 2,243.78 during the day. However, it experienced a downward trend throughout the trading session and touched an intraday low of 2,194.41 before finally settling at 2,200.50 at the end of the day.

This improvement was mainly due to a sharp decline in imports, which dropped by 16.08% during the same period. The government’s strict measures played a crucial role in reducing imports, and according to the Customs Department’s data, the total imports stood at Rs. 16.11 Kharba in the financial year 2079/80.

    Gold has reached a new record high in Nepal, with the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA) reporting that it is being traded at Rs. 1 lakh 13 thousand 600 per tola. This represents an increase of Rs. 500 compared to the previous day’s price. Just a day before, on Jestha 19, the price of gold had already reached an all-time high of Rs. 1 lakh 13 thousand 300 per tola.

    On the day before, the price of gold had risen by Rs. 600 to reach Rs. 1 lakh 13 thousand 100. The upward trend in gold prices has been remarkable in recent days, leading to these consecutive record highs.

    As for silver, its price also saw an increase on Thursday, reaching Rs. 1495 per tola, which is Rs. 5 more than the previous day’s price of Rs. 1,490 per tola.

    In the international market, the price of gold has been trading at $1979.82 per ounce on Thursday, after remaining steady at $1974.44 an ounce on Wednesday. Similarly, silver was priced at $24.99 per ounce on Wednesday and experienced a slight rise to $25.1 on Thursday.

    The surging prices of gold and silver in both the local and international markets have drawn attention from investors and traders, indicating a trend of increasing precious metal prices in the current economic scenario.

    The NEPSE index concluded today’s trading session at 2,163.92, experiencing a slight loss of 1.31 points compared to the previous day’s closing. This translates to a minimal decrease of 0.06% on the index. In contrast, the index had gained 11.17 points in the preceding trading session.

    Throughout the day, a total of 264 scrips were exchanged through 54,954 transactions. The Float index witnessed a decline of 0.13% and currently stands at 150.04, while the Sensitive index saw a marginal gain of 0.01%, bringing it to 410.52. The overall market capitalization amounted to Rs. 3.17 Trillion, with the float market capitalization reaching Rs. 1.12 Trillion.

    SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) recorded the highest turnover of Rs. 14.23 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 635 per share. Among the various stocks, KBL was the most actively traded.

    During the trading session, two scrips registered a significant gain of 10%, hitting the positive circuit breaker. On the other hand, two mutual funds experienced a complete loss for the day.

    Out of the various sectors, five managed to gain ground, while all others closed in the red. “Mutual Funds” was the sector with the highest loss, declining by 1.21%. Conversely, the “Trading” sector showed the most notable gain, surging by 6.35% during the day’s trading activities.

    The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) faced a shortfall in revenue collection for the last fiscal year, collecting a total of Rs. 4 Kharba 80 Arba. This amount fell 23 percent below the target set at Rs. 6 Kharba 26 Arba. Furthermore, the revenue collected was Rs. 3 Arba less than the previous year’s collection (2078/79).

    Throughout the fiscal year, the department struggled to meet its revenue targets. Even in the month of Ashad, revenue collection fell short compared to the previous year, with only Rs. 72 Arba collected as opposed to the previous year’s Rs. 73 Arba.

    By the end of Jestha, the department had collected Rs. 4 Kharba 8 Arba, falling short by Rs. 2 Arba compared to the previous fiscal year. Despite this, it was significantly below the revenue target set for the year.

    The lower revenue collection was primarily attributed to reduced earnings from banks, financial institutions, alcohol, and automobile dealers compared to the previous year. The department faced challenges in meeting revenue targets since the month of Shrawan, with each subsequent month falling short of the set targets.

    For instance, in Poush, the department collected only Rs. 71.31 Arba, which was far below the target of Rs. 1 Kharba 6 Arba. Similarly, in Chaitra, the collection amounted to only Rs. 55.2 Arba, while the target was set at Rs. 83.75 Arba.

    Overall, the Inland Revenue Department managed to collect approximately 77 percent of the targeted revenue, resulting in a shortfall of Rs. 3 Arba compared to the previous fiscal year’s collection.

Tejabi gold, on the other hand, is being traded at Rs. 111,850 today, compared to yesterday’s rate of Rs. 111,050 per tola.

    In addition, the price of silver has also seen a rise of Rs. 40 per tola. The shiny white metal is currently being traded at Rs. 1,440 per tola in the local market, whereas the closing rate yesterday stood at Rs. 1,400 per tola.

    It is worth noting that in the international market, the current price of gold stands at USD $1,956.10 per ounce, while silver is being traded at $24.17 per ounce.

Throughout the day, there were 65,317 transactions involving 293 scrips. The total turnover amounted to Rs. 3.79 Arba, which is higher than the previous day’s turnover of Rs. 3.04 Crores.

    In the first eleven months of the fiscal year 2079/80, non-life insurance companies in Nepal collected an impressive amount of Rs. 36.19 Arba in premiums from 25.37 lakh active insurance policies. According to a report from the Nepal Insurance Authority, Siddhartha Premier Insurance holds the most active policies at 313,602, followed by Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance with 305,633 policies. On the other hand, National Insurance Co. Ltd has the fewest active policies, with only 30,563 in total.
