    NEPSE Index Surges 0.63%, Registers Significant Gains with Notable Turnover


    The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index recorded a significant increase of 11.73 points, equivalent to 0.63%, compared to the previous day’s closing, concluding at 1,852.77 points. In the preceding trading session, the index had witnessed a gain of 3.33 points.

    The day commenced with the index opening at 1840.42, marking an intraday low of 1,834.64 and reaching a peak at 1,861.22 during the course of trading.

    Throughout the day’s trading activities, a total of 299 different stocks were involved in 53,146 transactions. The trading volume reached 9,505,608 shares, leading to a total turnover of Rs. 2.79 Arba. The overall market capitalization was reported at Rs. 28.56 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 9.96 Kharba.

    The stock with the highest turnover was Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited Promoter Share (NRICP), reaching a notable Rs. 86.83 crores.

    Among individual stocks, Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company Limited (TVCL) demonstrated the highest gain at 10%, closely followed by Samaj Laghubittya Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SAMAJ) with a gain of 9.97%.

    However, Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (GILB) experienced the most substantial loss, declining by 7.81% during the day.

    In terms of sector indices, with the exception of the “Trading Index,” all other sector indices concluded in positive territory. The “Non-Life Insurance Index” emerged as the top gainer, registering a gain of 2.11%. Conversely, the “Trading Index” witnessed a loss of 0.50%.

    In today’s trading, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index ended at 1,998.28 points, dropping by 12.93 points or 0.64% from yesterday’s close. The index had also seen a loss of 21.99 points in the previous session.

    The trading began with the index starting at 2,012.46 and hitting a high of 2,019.51 during the day. However, it went down to a low of 1,991.81 before settling at 1,998.28 at the close.

    Throughout the day, there were 272 different stocks traded in 39,425 transactions. A significant number of shares, totaling 4,163,872, were exchanged, resulting in a turnover of Rs. 1.40 Arba. The overall market capitalization was Rs. 29.90 Kharba, while the floating market capitalization was Rs. 10.52 Kharba.

    The NEPSE index experienced a decline today, closing at 2,050.78 points, which reflects a loss of 14.05 points from the previous trading day. This translates to a decrease of 0.68% in the index value. Yesterday, the index had also experienced a decline of 26.56 points.

    During today’s trading session, the index opened at 2,067.21 points and reached its highest point of the day at 2,082.97. However, it also dropped to a low of 2,043.84 before settling at the closing value of 2,050.78.

    In terms of trading activity, there were 271 scrips (individual securities) exchanged through 59,813 transactions. The total number of shares traded was 8,651,164, amounting to a turnover of Rs. 3.49 Arba. It’s worth noting that today’s turnover is lower than the turnover of Rs. 4.11 Arba observed in the previous trading day.

    Today, the NEPSE (Nepal Stock Exchange) index closed at 2,020.64, marking an impressive increase of 34.17 points from the previous trading day’s closing. This gain of 1.72% is particularly notable, considering the index had already gained 7.79 points yesterday. In fact, the index concluded at its highest level in 3.5 months, surpassing the levels seen on February 27, 2023, when it stood at 2,023.54.

    The trading day began with the index opening at 1,989.43 and reaching its intraday low at 1,977.52. However, it rebounded strongly, reaching a high of 1,972.00 before finally closing at 2,020.64.

    A total of 270 scrips were traded via 70,759 transactions, resulting in the exchange of 10,801,693 shares with a turnover amount of Rs. 4.12 Arba. This turnover amount represents a significant increase compared to the previous trading day’s turnover of Rs. 2.88 Arba. In fact, it is the highest turnover recorded in almost 5 months, since January 18, 2023, when the turnover amount reached Rs. 4.98 Arba.

    Among the traded shares, SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) had the highest turnover of Rs. 27.66 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 506.50 per share.

    Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) saw a notable gain of 10% and hit the positive circuit for the day, demonstrating a positive market sentiment.

    On the other hand, Prabhu Smart Fund (PRSF) experienced the highest decline, losing 3.93% during the trading session.

    Despite the fluctuations, all sector indices closed in the green zone, with the “Manufacturing and Processing” sector witnessing the highest gain of 4.32%. The “Banking” sector recorded the least gain, with an increase of 0.61% during the trading day.

SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) had the highest turnover of Rs. 4.25 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 405 per share, while the shares of NIMB had the most trading volume. NMB Sulav Investment Fund – 2 (NSIF2) showed the highest increase of 3.33% for the day, while NIBL Growth Fund (NIBLGF) experienced the highest decrease of 8.89%. All sector indices closed in the red, with “Hydropower” experiencing the highest loss of 1.87%, while “Investment” had the lowest loss of 0.53% for the day.
