    During the first fifth month of the fiscal year 2080/81, life insurance companies in Nepal achieved an impressive milestone by collecting a substantial amount of premiums totaling Rs. 61.75 Arba. This significant premium collection resulted from a cumulative total of 13,754,483 active insurance policies held by policyholders until the month of Mangsir.

    A report published by the Nepal Insurance Authority reveals that Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Company stands out with the highest number of active policies, boasting 3,264,677 policies. Following closely is National Life Insurance Company with 1,579,259 policies, while Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance Ltd holds the lowest number of active insurance policies with 168,986 policies.

    In terms of total insurance charges, Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited takes the lead with charges amounting to Rs. 16.76 Arba. National Life Insurance Company follows closely with charges of Rs. 7.16 Arba, and Life Insurance Corporation Limited with Rs. 6.92 Arba.

    Life insurance companies are currently in a strong competition to increase their premium collections. In the fiscal year 2079/80, until the month of Ashad, they collected a significant amount of Rs. 1.42 Kharba in premiums. This achievement was made possible by the hard work across 1.41 crore active insurance policies.

    According to a report from the Nepal Insurance Authority, Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited is leading with the highest number of active policies, at 3,344,435. National Life Insurance Company Limited comes next with 1,609,278 policies. On the lower side, Mahalaxmi Life Insurance has 35,015 active policies.

    SEBON Adds “9% Nabil Debenture 2087” to Pipeline with Rs 3 Arba Size

    SEBON, the Securities Board of Nepal, has included “9% Nabil Debenture 2087” in its pipeline. The debenture has a total size of Rs 3 Arba. Nabil Bank Limited will issue 30 lakh units of debenture at Rs 1000 per unit. Out of these, 12 lakh units are reserved for the general public, while the remaining 18 lakh units are for private placement. The debenture will provide a 9% interest rate for a duration of 7 years.

    Janaki Finance Limited (JFL) reported a 70.76 percent decrease in net profit in the third quarter (Q3) of fiscal year 2079/80.

    According to a report released today by the financing company, its net profit fell to Rs 1.53 crore in the third quarter from Rs 5.24 crore in the previous quarter.

    In Q3, Janaki Finance had a paid-up capital of Rs 69.04 crore and reserves of Rs 29.82 crore. The firm also has Rs. 19.5 crores in negative retained earnings.

    JFL has collected Rs 3.34 arba in deposits and has issued Rs 2.62 arba in loans and advances.

    On the other side, the company’s NPL has climbed by a staggering 391.67% to 23.60%.

    Insurance companies are competing with one another to collect more premiums. Out of its 1.4 crore total active insurance policies, life insurance companies collected a total premium of Rs. 93.75 Arba during the fiscal year 2079/80.

    According to a report published by the Nepal Insurance Authority, Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited collected Rs. 24.37 Arba on its own, with 978,626 active insurance policies as of Falgun, 2079.

    For the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2079/80, the government’s budget deficit exceeded Rs. 1.56 Kharba. By the end of Falgun, the government had spent 7.79 Kharba of its budget, but had only collected 6.22 Kharba in total revenue.

    Meanwhile, only 22.15% of capital expenditure (CAPEX) is used until the end of Falgun’s fiscal year 2079/80.

    The government’s capital expenditure is the money spent on the development of physical assets. In Nepal, the capital budget is funded by balancing domestic revenue after the recurrent budget, grants, and loans have been met. According to the Financial Comptroller General Office, only Rs. 84.25 Arba of the capital budget has been spent out of the targeted budget of Rs. 3.80 Kharba.

    Prabhu Bank Ltd is the fund promoter of this plan, while Prabhu Capital Limited is the scheme manager. This is a closed-ended plan. This scheme will invest 35 to 90 percent of the proceeds from unit sales in shares, making it an equity-oriented scheme.

    Prabhu Bank Limited has obtained 1.12 crore units out of a total of 8 crore units available, while Prabhu Capital Limited has secured 8 lakh units.

    Asian Hydropower Limited issued 697,200 units of shares worth Rs. 6.97 crores to the general public as a part of their Initial Public Offering (IPO) from 27th Magh till 3rd Falgun, 2079.

    Out of the total 840,000 units; 10% i.e. 84,000 units have already been issued and allotted to Nepalese citizens working abroad, whereas 2% i.e 16,800 units have been set aside for the employees of the company and 5% of the total offered shares i.e. 42,000 units have been set aside for the mutual funds. The remaining 6,97,200 units are for the general public. The paid-up capital of the company will reach Rs. 34 Crores after the IPO issuance. The company intends to collect Rs 6.97 crore from this IPO.
