    In the recently disclosed second-quarter fiscal report for the year 2080/2081, Support Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SMB) exhibited a remarkable financial performance, witnessing a substantial 246.82% increase in net profit. The net profit surged from Rs. 24.91 lakhs to Rs. 86.42 lakhs when compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Despite a 5.39% decline in core revenue, specifically net interest income, which decreased to Rs. 2.93 crores from Rs. 3.1 crores in the same quarter last year, SMB managed to achieve noteworthy growth in its net profits.

    Borrowings for SMB experienced a significant uptick of 29.14%, reaching Rs. 1.28 Arba, and loans and advances also saw a substantial increase of 24.51%, reaching Rs. 1.7 Arba during this quarter. In terms of asset quality, the company reported impairment charges amounting to Rs. 8.47 Lakhs, but the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio decreased impressively from 3.53% to 1.54%.

    The financial structure of SMB revealed a paid-up capital of Rs. 95.24 crores, along with reserves and surplus standing at Rs. 5.4 crores. The annualized earnings per share (EPS) was reported at Rs. 18.15, and the net worth per share was recorded as Rs. 156.79. SMB’s stock traded at a price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple of 55.49 times during the period.

On the first trading day, NEPSE set an opening range of Rs. 95.09 to Rs. 285.27 for Hathway Investment. This upward momentum follows a recent surge of 16.24 points on Tuesday, contributing to a cumulative gain of 64.84 points over the last three working days. This surge has propelled the index back to the 2000 level, and the driving force behind this remarkable increase has been the notable rise in the hydropower sector.

    The trading day commenced with the index opening at 1,988.71 points, hitting an intraday low of 1,988.67 points. However, it also reached an intraday high of 2,040.28 points before ultimately settling at its closing value of 2,029.78 points.

    Today’s trading activities featured 278 different stocks that were traded in a total of 119,359 transactions. The volume of shares exchanged reached 11,264,309, with an overall turnover of Rs. 3.29 Arba. As a result, the market capitalization saw a significant boost, reaching Rs. 30.59 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 10.77 Kharba.

    One of the prominent performers during today’s trading was Sun Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited (SNLI), which recorded the highest turnover, totaling Rs. 20.18 crores, and closed with a market price of Rs. 470 per share.

    Notably, the trading session witnessed a substantial rise in the stock prices of nearly eight hydropower companies, making them an attractive choice for many traders due to their lower-than-usual pricing.

    On the downside, the NIBL Growth Fund (NIBLGF) experienced the most significant loss of 4.07% during today’s trading.

    In terms of sector indices, all sectors ended the day in positive territory, with the Hydropower Index leading the way with a substantial gain of 5.31%, followed closely by the Finance Index, which saw a 4.38% increase.

By the end of FY 2079-80, the bank achieved a significant milestone, earning Rs. 2.61 Arba, a substantial increase compared to the Rs. 1.24 Arba earned in the same quarter of FY 2078-79.

    The bank has seen remarkable growth in both Net Interest Income and Operating Profits, experiencing a substantial 39.50 percent and 27.96 percent increase, respectively. In the final quarter of FY 2079-80, Sanima Bank generated Rs. 6.48 Arba in core business revenue and Rs. 3.78 Arba in operating profit.

    A total of 257 scrips were exchanged through 50,299 transactions during the day’s trading. The volume of shares traded amounted to 7,634,190, resulting in a turnover of Rs. 2.56 Arba.

    Among the stocks, SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) had the highest turnover, with a value of Rs. 14.86 crores, and closed at a market price of Rs. 662. The shares of PRSF recorded the highest trading volume.
