    NEPSE Index Records a 0.54% Decline Amidst Mixed Performances in Sector Indices


    The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index registered a decline of 10.10 points, equivalent to 0.54%, compared to the previous day’s closing, settling at 1,837.71 points. The index had experienced a loss of 3.42 points in the trading session immediately preceding this.

    The trading day commenced with the index opening at 1849.01, reaching an intraday low of 1,833.02, and achieving an intraday high of 1,857.35.

    Throughout today’s trading activities, 292 different stocks were traded in 38,584 transactions. The volume of shares traded amounted to 4,698,682, resulting in a total turnover of Rs. 1.54 Arba. The market capitalization stood at Rs. 28.33 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 9.88 Kharba.

    Mountain Energy Nepal Limited (MEN) led in turnover, reaching Rs. 36.29 crores, and closed at a market price of Rs. 434.90.

    Similarly, Singati Hydro Energy Limited (SHEL) exhibited the highest gain of 10%, followed by Civil Bank Debenture 2088 (CBLD88) with a gain of 7.36%.

    Conversely, Bishal Bazar Company Limited (BBC) experienced the highest loss of 9.53% during today’s trading.

    In terms of sector indices, all sector indices, except the “Life Insurance Index,” concluded in negative territory. The Manufacturing and Processing Index recorded the most significant loss at 2.57%. Meanwhile, the Life Insurance Index gained the highest, increasing by 0.16 percent.

The index had experienced a notable loss of 23.16 points during the preceding trading session.

    The day’s trading began with the index opening at 1,851.18 points, subsequently reaching an intraday low of 1,851.03 points. However, it managed to climb to an intraday high of 1,884.67 points before the trading session ended.

    In the course of today’s trading activities, a total of 289 different stocks were traded through 45,456 transactions. The total volume of shares exchanged amounted to 3,813,233 units, resulting in a collective turnover of Rs. 1 Arba. The overall market capitalization was reported at Rs. 28.61 Kharba, and the float market capitalization stood at Rs. 10.03 Kharba.

    Hathway Investment Nepal Limited (HATHY) boasted the highest turnover for the day, with transactions totaling Rs. 4.62 crores, and it closed at a market price of Rs. 284.

    Furthermore, NIBL Pragati Fund (NIBLPF) exhibited the most substantial gain, with an impressive 7.35% increase, closely followed by Swet-Ganga Hydropower & Construction Limited (SGHC), which recorded a gain of 6.91%.

    On the flip side, Hathway Investment Nepal Limited (HATHY) experienced the most significant loss, falling by 8.53%.

    Regarding sector indices, three sectors concluded in the red, with the “Trading Index” showing the most substantial loss at 1.25%. Conversely, the “Finance Index” demonstrated the highest gain, recording a 1.30% increase.

    Among the individual stocks, NIC Asia Bank Ltd. (NICA) stood out with the highest turnover, reaching Rs. 27.54 crores, and it closed at a market price of Rs. 814. Similarly, Shuvam Power Limited (SPL) experienced the most significant gain, with a 10% increase, followed by Three Star Hydropower Limited (TSHL) with a gain of 7.89%.     In terms of sector performance, all sub-indices ended the day in the red, with the “Trading Index” experiencing the most significant loss of 3.33%, while the “Mutual Fund” sub-index had the smallest decline at 0.35%.

    Trading activity remained active, with 276 scrips traded through 64,868 transactions. A total of 9,418,952 shares were traded, resulting in a turnover of Rs. 4.05 Arba. Although lower than the previous day’s turnover of Rs. 5.08 Arba, the market maintained a reasonable level of liquidity.

    Himalayan Life Insurance Limited (HLI) was the most actively traded stock, with a turnover of Rs. 23.94 crores and a market price of Rs. 532 per share.

    Laxmi Equity Fund (LEMF) experienced the most significant decrease, losing 8.95% of its value.

    Among the sector indices, only the “Hotel and Tourism” sector had gains, growing by 2.07%. On the other hand, the “Life Insurance” sector saw the largest decline of 1.83%. This indicates varying performance across sectors, with the Hotel and Tourism sector showing strength while the Life Insurance sector faced setbacks.
