    Gold Prices Reach All-Time High with Rs. 1500 Single-Day Gain


    Gold prices have once again grabbed attention as they reached a record high today. The surge in value amounts to a significant single-day gain of Rs. 1500 compared to yesterday’s price.

    According to the official website of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 112,000 per tola, whereas it was maintained at Rs. 110,500 per tola yesterday. Similarly, Tejabi gold is being traded at Rs. 111,450 today, whereas the rate was held at Rs. 109,950 per tola on the previous day.

    Within a span of two days, the price of gold has risen by Rs. 3900 per tola. The fluctuation in gold and silver prices is partly attributed to the absence of a clear response regarding customs rates related to these precious metals in the budget for 2080/081.

    Just recently, on May 4th, 2023, the price of gold hit an all-time high in the Nepalese market. Fine gold was traded at Rs. 111,800 per tola, while Tejabi gold reached Rs. 111,250 per tola on that day.

    In addition, silver has also experienced a gain of Rs. 20 per tola. The shiny white metal is currently being traded at Rs. 1,395 per tola in the local market, compared to the previous day’s closing rate of Rs. 1,375 per tola.

    Ghorahi Cement Industry Limited is concluding the issuance of its Initial Public Offering (IPO) for project-affected locals today. The IPO, which opened on 18th Baisakh, aims to issue 79,43,801 unit shares to the public, including locals, Nepalese citizens working abroad, and the general public. Out of the total issued capital of Rs. 3.97 Arba, 1% or 397,190 unit shares have been allocated to project-affected locals of Dang District.

    The shares are being offered at a price of Rs. 400 per unit for locals and Rs. 435 per unit for Nepalese citizens working abroad, including a premium amount. The IPO will generate a total of Rs. 3.44 Arba for the company, with a significant portion being premium amounting to Rs. 2.645 Arba.

    Himalayan Capital Limited and Nabil Investment Banking Limited are the appointed issue managers for the IPO. After the IPO, the promoter-public share ratio will be 80:20. CARE Ratings Nepal Limited has assigned a rating of ‘CARE-NP BBB- (Is)’ to Ghorahi Cement Industry Limited, indicating a moderate degree of safety regarding the timely servicing of financial obligations.

    Ghorahi Cement Industry Limited, formerly known as Ghorahi Cement Industry Private Limited, was established in August 2007. It operates an integrated cement manufacturing plant in the Dang Valley of Western Nepal. The company has a clinker capacity of 1,900 MTPD and a grinding capacity of 2,200 MTPD, with plans for further expansion. Ghorahi Cement Industry sells its products under the brand name “Sagarmatha” across Nepal, with a focus on the western and far-western regions of the country. The company has a network of 21 distributors throughout Nepal.

    The price of gold is reaching an all-time high record, and today it experienced significant gains. Fine gold rose by Rs. 2400 in a single day, while tejabi gold increased by Rs. 2350 compared to yesterday’s price.

    According to the official website of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 110,500 per tola, up from Rs. 108,100 per tola yesterday. Tejabi gold, on the other hand, is being traded at Rs. 109,950 today, compared to Rs. 107,600 per tola yesterday.

    Just recently, on April 5, 2023, the price of gold reached an all-time high in the Nepalese market. Fine gold was traded at Rs. 111,000 per tola, while tejabi gold reached Rs. 110,450 per tola on that day.

    In addition, silver has also seen a gain of Rs. 15 per tola. The shiny white metal is now being traded at Rs. 1,375 per tola in the local market, up from yesterday’s closing rate of Rs. 1,360 per tola.

    In the international market, the current price of gold stands at USD $1,948.10 per ounce, while silver is being traded at $23.18 per ounce.

    National Life Insurance Company Limited Announces Last Day for Dividend


    Today is the final day to receive the dividend announced by National Life Insurance Company Limited (NLICL). The company has scheduled its 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the 22nd of Jestha, 2080. The AGM will take place at the company’s headquarters in Lazimpat, Kathmandu, starting at 10:30 AM on that day.

    One of the items on the AGM’s agenda is the approval of a 14.5% dividend for the fiscal year 2078/79. During the 495th board of directors meeting held on Chaitra 30, it was decided to distribute this dividend based on the paid-up capital of Rs. 4.64 Arba. The proposed dividend consists of 8% bonus shares valued at slightly over Rs. 37.12 crores and 6.5% cash dividend (including tax) amounting to Rs. 30.16 crores.

    The book closure date has been set for Jestha 11. Consequently, only shareholders who are still registered as of today will be eligible for the dividend payment and are welcome to attend the AGM.

    On Thursday, the price of gold experienced a decrease of Rs. 300, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association. Fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 1,09,700, marking a decrease from its previous price.

    Similarly, tejabi gold is now priced at Rs. 1,09,200 per tola on Thursday, down from Rs. 1,09,500 per tola on Wednesday.

    In contrast, the price of silver has remained unchanged at Rs. 1,370 per tola for both Wednesday and Thursday.

    Comparing Tuesday’s prices, the price of gold has seen a decline of Rs. 1400 per tola. The drop was particularly significant on Wednesday when the price plummeted by Rs. 1100 per tola.

    Overall, the price of gold, represented by the yellow bullion, has experienced a downward trend with a decrease of Rs. 300 on Thursday. This follows a recent decline in prices, reflecting fluctuations in the precious metals market.

    The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index concluded the trading day at 1,877.32, displaying a gain of 32.30 points compared to the previous closing, representing a growth of 1.75%. Yesterday, the index had increased by 23.39 points.

    The trading day commenced with an opening value of 1,846.69. Throughout the day, the index fluctuated, reaching a low of 1,844.50 and a high of 1,883.20. Eventually, it settled at 1,877.32 at the close of trading.

    During the day, a total of 264 scrips were traded through 32,579 transactions. The overall shares exchanged amounted to 4,422,186, with a total turnover value of Rs. 1.47 Arba. This turnover figure surpassed the previous trading day’s turnover of Rs. 85.76 Crores.

    Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) recorded the highest turnover of Rs. 8.63 crores, concluding the trading session at a market price of Rs. 779.20 per share. The shares of SHIVM were the most actively traded during the day.

    Two scrips experienced the highest gain of 10% each, triggering the positive circuit limit for the day. Conversely, NIBL Growth Fund (NIBLGF) suffered the highest decline of 3.14% during the trading session.

    All sector indices closed in the green zone, with the “Hotels and Tourism” sector displaying the highest growth of 3.75%. On the other hand, the “Others” sector recorded the least growth of 0.90% on the trading day.

    The NEPSE (Nepal Stock Exchange) index concluded today’s trading session at 1,845.01, showing a gain of 23.39 points compared to the previous closing, representing a 1.28% increase. The index had also experienced a gain of 3.29 points in the preceding trading session.

    Starting the day at 1,821.54, the index reached an intraday low of 1,821.02 but surged to a high of 1,846.72 before settling at 1,845.01 at the closing bell.

    During the trading day, a total of 266 stocks were traded through 25,634 transactions. The trading volume amounted to 2,577,210 shares, with a turnover of Rs. 85.76 Crores. This marked an increase in turnover compared to the previous trading day’s turnover of Rs. 64.01 Crores.

    Among the traded stocks, SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) recorded the highest turnover of Rs. 5.46 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 403.50 per share.

    Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ANLB) experienced the highest gain of 9.99% and reached the positive circuit for the day.

    In contrast, Mai Khola Hydropower Limited (MKHL) suffered the highest decline of 7.93% during today’s trading.

    All sector indices concluded the day in positive territory, with the “Others” sector witnessing the highest gain of 2.37%, while the “Mutual Fund” sector registered the smallest gain of 0.04%.

    Rawa Energy Development Limited has successfully completed the allotment of IPO (Initial Public Offering) shares to project-affected locals of the Khotang District. The allotment program concluded on 1st Jestha, 2080.

    The company’s total issued capital is Rs. 28 Crores, out of which 10%, equivalent to 2,80,000 unit shares worth Rs. 2.8 crores, were specifically allocated to project-affected locals of the Khotang District. The IPO had opened for subscription on 23rd Chaitra, 2079, with the original closing date set for 7th Baisakh, 2080. However, since the IPO did not receive full subscription by the initial closing date, the deadline was extended until 24th Baisakh, 2080. During the subscription period, locals had the opportunity to apply for a minimum of 10 shares and a maximum of 10,000 shares.

    According to the notice published today, Rawa Energy Development Limited has confirmed that the allotted units have been assigned to valid applicants on 1st Jestha, 2080. This completion of the allotment process marks an important step in involving project-affected locals from the Khotang District in the company’s operations.

    Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PCBL) has announced the commencement of an auction where the existing promoters of the bank will be selling 351,817 units of promoter shares to the general public. The auction will take place from 3rd Jestha to 17th Jestha, 2080.

    The auction is open to individual investors, companies, and institutions who are eligible to bid for the promoter shares. The minimum bid rate for the shares has been set at Rs. 130, and the minimum bid quantity is 10,000 units. It is important to note that while bidders have the option to bid for the entire quantity of shares, they must comply with the regulations set by the Nepal Rastra Bank, ensuring that the specified quantity of shares per entity is not exceeded.

    The auction will be managed by Sanima Capital Limited, serving as the auction manager. Bids will open at the premises of the auction manager on the 17th of Jestha, 2080, at 4 PM.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association’s official website, fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 110,000 per tola, compared to yesterday’s rate of Rs. 111,100 per tola. Tejabi gold, on the other hand, is being traded at Rs. 109,500 today, in contrast to yesterday’s rate of Rs. 110,550 per tola.

    Additionally, silver has also witnessed a decrease in price, with a drop of Rs. 5 per tola. The current trading rate for silver in the local market is Rs. 1,370 per tola, compared to yesterday’s closing rate of Rs. 1,365 per tola.

    In the international market, the current price of gold stands at $1,989.70 per ounce, while silver is trading at $23.75 per ounce.

    NEPSE has recently listed 28,81,180.9663 unit bonus shares of Nepal Bank Limited (NBL). This follows the bank’s 63rd Annual General Meeting held on Poush 29, where a 12% dividend was approved for the fiscal year 2078/79. During a board of directors meeting on Poush 01, it was decided to distribute the dividend on the paid-up capital of Rs. 14.40 Arba, which included 2% bonus shares worth Rs. 28.81 Crore and 10% cash dividend (including bonus shares tax purposes) worth Rs. 1.44 Arba. These bonus shares are now listed in NEPSE, and the closing price of NBL shares stands at Rs. 245.

    Similarly, Forward Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (FOWAD) has also listed 21,11,127.469 unit bonus shares in NEPSE. The company held its 10th Annual General Meeting for the fiscal year 2078/79 on Poush 30, 2079, where a 30% dividend was endorsed. During a board of directors meeting on Poush 04, it was decided to distribute the dividend on the paid-up capital of Rs. 84.44 Crores, which included a 5% cash dividend (including tax) worth Rs. 4.22 Crores and a 25% bonus dividend worth Rs. 21.11 Crores. These bonus shares are now listed in NEPSE, and FOWAD shares closed at Rs. 1,104 on the previous trading day.

    Prabhu Life Insurance Limited (PLI) has made changes to its dividend proposal for the fiscal year 2077/78. Initially, they had planned to distribute a dividend of 10.526%, consisting of 10% bonus shares and 0.526% cash dividend from their paid-up capital of Rs. 2 Arba. However, the Nepal Insurance Authority required the company to revise its proposal, leading to a new plan. The revised proposal includes the distribution of 9.8% bonus shares worth Rs. 19.60 crores and 0.5158% cash dividend worth Rs. 1.03 crores on the paid-up capital of Rs. 2 Arba. Currently, the company’s closing price is Rs. 401.10.
