The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has cancelled the process of procuring the country’s own satellite, according to a statement issued today.
According to NTA, the satellite project was discontinued since the companies chosen to keep the satellite did not react to the request.
Meanwhile, NTA stated that a fresh procedure will be initiated soon in accordance with the Public Procurement Act 2063.
In order to develop the satellite, nine international businesses have submitted letters of intent. NTA had chosen five companies and requested financial offers from them. However, NTA stated that these companies did not react to NTA’s call in a timely manner.
NTA has requested a new plan to control satellite installation and establish policies on security, trade, and operation modalities.
