A writ suit filed against the appointment of Kulman Ghising as the managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority has been adjourned till a later date, according to the Supreme Court of Nepal (NEA).
The hearing on the case was postponed at the request of the petitioner’s attorney, who wanted the hearing to be delayed.
Outgoing NEA MD Hitendra Dev Shakya has requested an interim order to reject the decision to promote Ghising to the position of NEA CEO. He will step down in the coming weeks. The petition, filed in the Supreme Court on August 16, sought his return to his previous position as a result of the decision.
Shakya filed a writ suit seeking his reinstatement, claiming that the government had wrongfully terminated him from his position. On August 9, the government announced that Shakya, the former NEA Managing Director, will be transferred to the Water and Energy Commission.
