The fruit soaking event was held on the 31st of October, 2021, at the Radisson Hotel Kathmandu. The event was hosted in Terrace Garden, which is a spectacular outdoor venue located on the fourth floor, where the meticulously prepared items were arranged in the proper order for serving. The hotel had invited a number of female professionals, including ambassadors, female entrepreneurs, public celebrities, athletes, and social activists, to attend the event in honor of the blending.
Mr. Subrata Banerjee, the General Manager of the hotel, welcomed everyone to the occasion with a welcome speech and introduced Mr. Sunal Krishna Kabiraj Thakur, the new Executive Chef of the hotel, to the audience. The Executive Chef then pushed the event forward by providing a brief summary of the fruit soaking event, its history, and the processes to be followed in mixing the fruits together.
The visitors followed the Chef’s instructions and combined a full list of dry fruits with spices, herbs, wine, beer, rum, and whisky, as well as other alcoholic beverages. It is generally accepted that fruits should be soaked and blended for at least a month before baking to achieve the original taste and flavor of Christmas cake. Consequently, the Radisson Hotel Kathmandu was the first hotel in the country to organize the fruit soaking ceremony this year, ahead of all other hotels. Everyone contributed to the event’s jovial and entertaining atmosphere.
