    Nepal Observes Constitution Day with Public Holiday and NEPSE Closure


    The Government of Nepal has declared a public holiday today, which falls on the 3rd of Ashwin, to commemorate ‘Constitution Day.’ As part of the holiday observance, the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed for trading. Normal trading activities on NEPSE will resume on Thursday, the 4th of Ashwin, 2080, starting at 11:00 AM.

    Constitution Day holds significance as it marks the promulgation of the constitution, which was drafted by the representatives of the people through the Constituent Assembly. This historic event took place on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS. The current constitution represents the seventh written constitution of Nepal, with its primary objective being the establishment of socialism through the protection of citizens’ socioeconomic and cultural rights.

    Today, the price of fine gold (per tola) has dropped by Rs. 600 compared to Tuesday’s trading price. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA), the current trading rate for fine gold is Rs. 1,12,400 per tola, down from the previous rate of Rs. 1,13,000 per tola.

    Makar Jitumaya Suri Hydropower Company Limited’s initial public offering (IPO) will take place this Wednesday, March 29th, 2079. The allotment program will take place at the issue manager’s Kamaladi office, Prabhu Capital Limited.

    From the 19th to the 25th Chaitra, the company issued 13,37,302 units of Rs 100 face value shares to the general public as an Initial Public Offering (IPO) worth Rs 13.37 crore. Out of the total 15,20,000 units, or 20% of the issued capital, 10% or 152,000 units have already been issued and allotted to Nepalese citizens working abroad, while 2%, or 32,028 units, were set aside for the company’s employees, and 5%, or 80,070 units, were set aside for the general public.
