    The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index ended today’s trading session at 2,013.93 points, dropping by 31.52 points or 1.54% compared to yesterday’s close. The index had gained 29.47 points on the previous trading day.

    The day started with the index opening at 2,045.86 and reaching its highest point at 2,052.20. However, it also hit a low of 2,009.09 before settling at 2,013.93 at the end of the day.

    In today’s trading, 275 different company stocks were traded in 40,800 transactions. A significant volume of shares was traded, totaling 4,657,137 shares, with a total turnover of Rs. 1.55 Arba. The overall market capitalization was Rs. 30.14 Kharba, and the floating market capitalization was Rs. 10.60 Kharba.

    On August 20, 2023, Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Limited (HDHPC) initiated the bidding process for 15,77,211 units of its regular shares available for the public. These shares were part of the remaining portion from their rights offering. Initially, the company had offered a 1:0.75 ratio right share opportunity to its eligible shareholders between 22nd Jestha and 25th Ashad, 2080. The unsold right shares were then put up for auction to the general public from 22nd to 29th Shrawan, 2080. The auction was managed by Laxmi Capital Market, with the final bid cut-off rate set at Rs. 120.

    According to a report from the Nepal Insurance Authority, Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited is leading with the highest number of active policies, at 3,344,435. National Life Insurance Company Limited comes next with 1,609,278 policies. On the lower side, Mahalaxmi Life Insurance has 35,015 active policies.

    Chilime Hydro Power Company Limited (CHCL) has released its fourth-quarter report for the recently concluded financial year 2079-80, showing a nearly 8 percent decrease in Net Profits. In the final quarter of FY 2079-80, the company recorded profits of Rs. 69.45 crores, down from Rs. 75.42 crores in the same quarter of FY 2078-79.

    The primary revenue source for hydropower companies, the Revenue from the Sale of Electricity, also experienced a decline of 4.49 percent for CHCL, totaling Rs. 1.12 Arba in the last quarter of FY 2079-80.

    Molung Hydropower Company Limited (MHCL) has released its Q4 financial report for the recently concluded fiscal year 2079-80, revealing a net loss of Rs. 1.14 crores. In comparison, during the same period in the previous fiscal year 2078-79, the company had recorded earnings of Rs. 55.46 lakhs.

    The drop in net profits has led to a decrease in the company’s Earnings per Share (EPS), which now stands at Rs. -1.42. Additionally, the Net worth per Share has fallen below par, reaching just Rs. 75.80.
