    Today, the price of gold saw a decline of Rs. 1,300 per tola. As reported by the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association’s official website, the current value of fine gold is Rs. 1,20,700 per tola, showing a decrease from yesterday’s rate of Rs. 1,22,000 per tola. Similarly, Tejabi gold is being traded at Rs. 1,20,100 today, marking a reduction of Rs. 1,300 per tola compared to its previous price of Rs. 1,21,400 per tola.

    Just one day ago, on December 28, 2023, fine gold had achieved a historic high of Rs. 1,22,000 per tola, while Tejabi gold had reached Rs. 1,21,400, establishing a record at that time.

    In addition to the gold fluctuations, the price of silver has also undergone a decrease of Rs. 35 per tola. The current market rate for silver is Rs. 1,455 per tola, down from yesterday’s closing rate of Rs. 1,490 per tola.

The Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA) reports that fine gold is currently being traded at Rs. 1,20,500 per tola, reflecting a Rs. 600 increase from Monday’s trading price of Rs. 1,19,900 per tola.     During a recent Cabinet meeting held at Singhadurbar, the government made a significant decision to establish the minimum purchase price for sugarcane at Rs 635 per quintal. The official announcement of this decision was made by government spokesperson Rekha Sharma.

    As per the newly implemented regulation, sugarcane mills are now required to directly pay Rs 565 per quintal to the farmers. Additionally, the government will extend a subsidy of Rs 70 per quintal to support farmers involved in the sugarcane industry.

    Spokesperson Sharma also revealed that the meeting involved a comprehensive review of the government’s progress over the past year. Chief Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal presented insights during the session, emphasizing the urgency to expedite government activities and enhance decision-making processes, laws, and legislation.

    This decision is anticipated to have a positive impact on sugarcane farmers, ensuring they receive fair and reasonable compensation for their produce. Ultimately, it is expected to contribute to the overall growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector.
