    Salt Trading Corporation Limited (STC) has recently published its third-quarter report for the ongoing fiscal year, revealing a nearly twofold increase in Net Profit, amounting to Rs. 3.71 crores. The company’s primary revenue source, sales, demonstrated a noteworthy growth of 17.44%, reaching Rs. 5.77 Arba. However, the selling expenses experienced a more significant surge of 21.65%, totaling Rs. 5.07 Arba during the third quarter of FY 2079/80.

    During the same period, STC observed a 12.51% rise in staff expenses and a 15.84% increase in administrative expenses compared to the corresponding quarter of FY 2078/79. On a positive note, the company’s Interest Expenses witnessed a substantial decrease of 35.44%, declining to Rs. 27.25 crores from Rs. 42.16 crores in the previous fiscal year’s third quarter. This reduction in interest expenses played a role in enhancing the company’s overall profitability.

    STC currently maintains a paid-up capital of Rs. 25.35 crores and possesses reserve and surplus funds amounting to Rs. 1.35 Arba. Additionally, the company holds property, plant, and equipment valued at Rs. 1.46 Arba, which remained relatively stable compared to the corresponding amount in the third quarter of the previous fiscal year.

    With an impressive Earnings per Share (EPS) ratio of Rs. 19.52 and a Net Worth of Rs. 632.89, STC exhibits positive financial indicators in its third-quarter report. The significant increase in Net Profit, coupled with improved revenue and reduced interest expenses, signifies the company’s strong performance and its commitment to maintaining a robust financial position.

    The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index concluded the trading day at 1,877.32, displaying a gain of 32.30 points compared to the previous closing, representing a growth of 1.75%. Yesterday, the index had increased by 23.39 points.

    The trading day commenced with an opening value of 1,846.69. Throughout the day, the index fluctuated, reaching a low of 1,844.50 and a high of 1,883.20. Eventually, it settled at 1,877.32 at the close of trading.

    During the day, a total of 264 scrips were traded through 32,579 transactions. The overall shares exchanged amounted to 4,422,186, with a total turnover value of Rs. 1.47 Arba. This turnover figure surpassed the previous trading day’s turnover of Rs. 85.76 Crores.

    Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) recorded the highest turnover of Rs. 8.63 crores, concluding the trading session at a market price of Rs. 779.20 per share. The shares of SHIVM were the most actively traded during the day.

    Two scrips experienced the highest gain of 10% each, triggering the positive circuit limit for the day. Conversely, NIBL Growth Fund (NIBLGF) suffered the highest decline of 3.14% during the trading session.

    All sector indices closed in the green zone, with the “Hotels and Tourism” sector displaying the highest growth of 3.75%. On the other hand, the “Others” sector recorded the least growth of 0.90% on the trading day.

    Ghorahi Cement Industry Limited has announced the closure of its Initial Public Offering (IPO) for Nepalese citizens working abroad starting from 2nd Jestha, 2080. The company has also extended the IPO deadline for project-affected locals until 17th Jestha. The IPO had initially opened on 19th Baisakh, 2080.

    With an issued capital of Rs. 3.97 Arba, Ghorahi Cement will be issuing 20% of its shares, totaling 79,43,801 units, to the public, including locals, Nepalese citizens working abroad, and the general public. Out of the total issued capital, 1% or 397,190 units have been allocated to project-affected locals in the Dang District. Additionally, 19% or 75,46,611 units will be issued later for the general public, with 10% or 7,54,661 units specifically allocated for Nepalese citizens working abroad, closing today.

    The shares will be offered at Rs. 400 per unit for locals and Rs. 435 per unit for Nepalese citizens working abroad, including premiums of Rs. 300 and Rs. 335, respectively.

    Himalayan Capital Limited and Nabil Investment Banking Limited have been appointed as the issue managers for the IPO. Following the issuance, the promoter-public share ratio will be 80:20, generating a total of Rs. 3.44 Arba for the company. Out of this amount, Rs. 2.645 Arba will be allocated as a premium, while the remaining will be added to the paid-up capital.

    According to CDSC, a total of 13,236 applications have been received from Nepalese citizens working abroad, representing a demand for 595,520 units so far.

    CARE Ratings Nepal Limited (CRNL) has assigned a rating of ‘CARE-NP BBB- (Is)’ to Ghorahi Cement Industry Limited, indicating a moderate degree of safety regarding the timely servicing of financial obligations in Nepal.

    The NEPSE Index, the stock market index of Nepal, concluded the week at a level of 1,838.59, representing a loss of 31.14 points or 1.67%. This decrease follows a similar 1.67% decline from the previous week when the index closed at 1,869.73.

    Throughout the week, the index displayed volatility, with a high of 1,872.22 and a low of 1,825.83. This indicates a range of 37.68 points, which is slightly lower than the 46.39 points of volatility observed in the previous week.

    Analyzing the trend data on daily charts, it is evident that both the short-term and mid-term trends are downward. Each day, the index has been making lower lows, indicating a bearish market sentiment prevailing in the market.

    On Tuesday, there was a notable intraday gain of 10.67 points, accompanied by a turnover of Rs 0.77 Arba. However, the total turnover for the week amounted to Rs 3.25 Arba, indicating moderate trading activity.

    Overall, the NEPSE Index experienced a downward trend during the week, characterized by volatility and declining values. Investors witnessed a bearish market sentiment with the index consistently making lower lows.

    Three Star Hydropower Limited is closing the initial public offering (IPO) for Nepalese citizens working abroad today, i.e., 25th Baisakh, 2080, and has extended the deadline for project-affected locals to apply for the IPO until 9th Jestha. The IPO issue was opened on 11th Baisakh, 2080. The company’s issued capital is Rs. 49.25 Crores, of which 10% has been allocated to project-affected locals of Khotang District, while 15% will be issued later for the general public. Of this public issue, 10% has been allocated for Nepalese citizens working abroad, and the issue for this segment will close today.

    The minimum application quantity for project-affected locals is ten units, while the maximum quantity is 492,500 units. For Nepalese citizens working abroad, the minimum application quantity is ten units, and the maximum quantity is 73,875 units. The IPO issue manager is Himalayan Capital Limited. After this IPO, the promoter-public share ratio will be 75:25.

    As per CDSC, Nepalese citizens working abroad have submitted 20,646 applications for a total of 512,280 units. So far, the issue has been oversubscribed by 6.93 times.

    Three Star Hydropower Limited is a public company located in Province 1, Haleshi Tuwachung Municipality, Khotang. The company was established in 2072 BS and has a total capacity of 7.151 MW. The founders of the company are Kumar Kharel, Mohan Karki, and Madhav Mainali, who named the company after themselves and then named it Three Star Hydro. Later, Uddhav Raj Shivakotee ‘Kangal’, Pradeep K Agrawal, Ananda P Manandhar, Zen Lama, and Ratna Bdr Newar joined the founders. ICRA Nepal has assigned an issuer rating of Three Star Hydropower Limited as [ICRANP-IR] B-, indicating a high risk of default regarding the timely servicing of financial obligations.

The total turnover for the day was Rs. 69.22 Crores, lower than the previous day’s turnover of Rs. 95.43 Crores, with 271 stocks traded through 21,649 transactions.

    Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) had the highest turnover of Rs. 2.44 crores with a market price of Rs. 1,900 per share, while the most traded shares belonged to NICBF. Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ANLB) gained 8.20% during the day, while Swet-Ganga Hydropower & Construction Limited (SGHC) lost the highest percentage of 4.70%. Among the six sector indices, “Trading” experienced the highest decline of 1.53%, whereas “Mutual Fund” gained 0.54%.

    Himalaya Urja Bikas Company Limited (HURJA) has announced that its 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) will now be held on 9th Jestha, 2080. The meeting was originally scheduled for 29th Poush, 2079, but was rescheduled. The AGM will take place at Arpan Banquet in Nayabaneshwor, Kathmandu, starting at 11 am on the specified day.

    The agendas for the AGM include endorsing the annual report for the fiscal year 2078/79 prepared by the board of directors, approving the auditor’s report for the same period, appointing an auditor for the fiscal year 2079/80, and approving their compensation. The meeting will also appoint Mr. Suman Sharma Chaulagain as a Director and propose to increase the authorized and issued capital of the company to Rs. 2.5 Arba. The company will also endorse 1:1 (100%) right shares from the paid-up capital of Rs. 99 Crores and manage capital received after issuance of rights shares.

    Investors who held shares of HURJA before the book closure date of Poush 18 will be able to attend the AGM.

    ‘Himalayan Stock Exchange’ applied for license of new stock exchange


    Himalayan Stock Exchange” has applied for a license to the Nepal Securities Board for a new stock exchange. The application has been filed by Himalayan Stock Exchange, which has been established with the participation of prominent business families in Nepal, including Shankar Group, along with the largest industrial houses in Nepal such as Shekhar Golchha of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, former presidents of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Pashupati Murarka, Rajendra Khetan of Khetan Group, Satish Lal Mor of Lucky Group, Vivek Dugar of Dugar Group, Shourabh Jyoti of Jyoti Group and other major traders and business houses. This is the first application for a stock exchange license by Himalayan Stock Exchange.

    The application has been filed by Himalayan Stock Exchange, along with investment from Rohit Gupta, Ashish Shrestha, Juni Gurung, and Deepak Bhatta.

    The deadline for applying for a license for the commodity exchange (Commodity Exchange) along with the stock exchange is until 10th Baisakh, 2079 (April 22, 2023). So far, only one application has been submitted under the name of Himalayan Stock Exchange.

    Similarly, there has been no application filed until Friday for the commodity exchange. The applications for the stock and commodity exchanges are separate.
