    NEPSE Index Gains 0.18% with Increased Turnover


    The NEPSE index concluded today’s trading session at 1,821.60 points, marking an increase of 3.29 points compared to the previous closing. This translates to a gain of 0.18%. In contrast, the index had experienced a loss of 3.34 points the day before.

    At the start of the trading day, the index opened at 1,817.87 points and reached an intraday low of 1,810.10 points. However, it later reached a high of 1,827.77 points before settling at 1,821.60 points by the end of the day.

    The trading activity involved 269 scrips traded through 18,889 transactions. In total, 2,063,737 shares were exchanged, amounting to a turnover of Rs. 64.01 Crores. This figure is lower than the turnover recorded on the previous trading day, which stood at Rs. 72.49 Crores.

    NIC Asia Bank Limited (NICA) had the highest turnover of Rs. 5.01 crores and closed at a market price of Rs. 690 per share. The shares of HBL were the most actively traded during the session.

    Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ANLB) experienced the highest gain, surging by 9.99% and hitting the positive circuit for the day. On the other hand, Mai Khola Hydropower Limited (MKHL) witnessed a significant loss of 10% during the trading session.

    Out of the various sector indices, only two closed in the red. The “Non-Life Insurance” sector index experienced the highest gain of 0.99%, while the “Others” sector index recorded the highest loss of 0.89% for the day.

    Upper Solu Hydro Electric Company Limited (USHEC) has released its unaudited third-quarter report for FY 2079/2080, reporting a net profit of Rs. 1.08 Crores, indicating a 78.98% decline from the relevant period of the previous fiscal year. The company’s paid-up capital remains at Rs. 1.35 Arba, and it has a negative reserve of Rs 3.64 Crores. Additionally, USHEC generated electricity sales worth Rs. 53.39 Crores in Q3 of FY 79/80, while finance expenses increased significantly by 244.73%, amounting to Rs. 30.73 Crores, affecting the company’s profitability for the period. The management analysis states that electricity was produced entirely from the organization’s project during the quarter period, and electricity was sold from the 132 KV transmission line, but reduced water flow in the river resulted in lower income than previous quarters. The company’s annualized EPS stood at Rs. 1.07, and its net worth per share was Rs. 97.30.

    In the third quarter (Q3) of the current fiscal year 2079/80, National Hydro Power Company Limited (NHPC) reported a net loss of Rs. 2.29 Crores, compared to a profit of Rs. 3.27 Crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company’s total revenue till the end of Q3 was Rs. 2.91 crores. However, NHPC’s administrative expenses declined by 6.97%, while financial expenses increased significantly by 125.40%, affecting the company’s profitability for this quarter.

    NHPC’s reserves and surplus currently stand at Rs. 83.03 Lakhs, with share capital at Rs. 1.64 Arba. The hydropower company plans to issue 50% right shares worth Rs. 82.21 Crores to its existing shareholders, which will increase the paid-up capital to Rs. 2.46 Arba after approval by SEBON.

    NHPC is also involved in the Lower Erkhuwa Hydropower Project in Bhojpur District, Province 1, which is expected to start generating 80 GWh of energy annually within 2023 and generate about N. Rs. 450 million in revenue. Additionally, the company is leading the study of the Likhu hydropower project, which is being promoted after concluding an agreement regarding holding of 75% shares in Bright Energy Solutions.

    NHPC’s annualized earning per share is currently at Rs. -1.86, while the net worth per share is at Rs. 100.50. The company’s Q3 report shows a decrease in reserves and surplus by 75.90%, property, plant, and equipment (NET) increasing by 0.51%, and a decline in total income (power sales) by 19.41%. The Q3 market price for NHPC was at 239.

    According to a report released today by the financing company, its net profit fell to Rs 1.53 crore in the third quarter from Rs 5.24 crore in the previous quarter.

    In Q3, Janaki Finance had a paid-up capital of Rs 69.04 crore and reserves of Rs 29.82 crore. The firm also has Rs. 19.5 crores in negative retained earnings.

    JFL has collected Rs 3.34 arba in deposits and has issued Rs 2.62 arba in loans and advances.

    On the other side, the company’s NPL has climbed by a staggering 391.67% to 23.60%.

    The company’s distributable profit after PL Appropriation and Regulatory Adjustments was Rs 5.63 crores in the third quarter.

    On the other hand, the company’s borrowings climbed by 32.42% to Rs. 5.93 Arba, up from Rs. 4.47 Arba in the same quarter last year. In this quarter, the company’s loans and advances to cooperatives climbed by 24.60% to Rs. 6.71 Arba.

    The hydropower company intends to issue 40% right shares worth Rs. 1.65 Arba to its existing shareholders in the form of 16,533,137 (1:0.40) units of right shares. API’s current paid-up capital, after adjusting for 7.5% bonus shares, is Rs. 4.13 Arba. As a result, following the issuance of the right share in the ratio of 1:0.40, the company’s paid-up capital will be increased to Rs. 5.78 Arba.

    Through 50,532 transactions, 262 scrips changed hands. 6,515,852 shares in all were traded for a total market value of Rs. 2.525 Arba. This is a little more than the turnover of Rs. 2.522 Arba from the previous trading day.
