Public Holiday Declared for Ghatasthapana, NEPSE Closed Today


The Government of Nepal has announced a public holiday today, Thursday (Ashwin 17), in observance of Ghatasthapana, the first day of the Dashain festival. Consequently, the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed for the day. Regular trading will resume on Sunday, Ashwin 20, 2081, at 11:00 AM.

Ghatasthapana marks the start of Dashain, a major festival celebrated across Nepal. The occasion involves the sowing of barley seeds for Jamara, a ritual plant used in subsequent ceremonies during the festival.
