The Nepal Rastra Bank intends to announce its monetary policy this week. Previously, Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari declared that he was ready to implement monetary policy after discussing with the Finance Committee of Parliament. The Fed’s monetary policy, however, will not be published until Monday.
Dev Kumar Dhakal, an NRB spokeswoman, notified Makalu Khabar that the necessary monetary policy preparations had been completed. It is believed that arrangements are being made to unveil monetary policy on Friday as soon as possible.
“We had no intention of bringing this day,” he explained. “We plan to disclose it within a week.” Following the release of the budget ordinance for the current fiscal year by the KP Oli-led government on May 29, the NRB planned to release monetary policy on July 18. However, upon the formation of the coalition government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, monetary policy was delayed, as was the administration’s willingness to change the budget.
The legislature has yet to ratify the budget ordinance. Following the passage of the ordinance, the Ministry of Finance must amend it and submit a substitute bill to the legislature. By passing the budget ordinance replacement law, the administration intends to carry out the budget in its favour.
