The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index extended its upward momentum today, crossing the 3,000-point milestone. The index closed at 3,000.81 points, marking a notable increase of 43.05 points, or 1.45%, from the previous trading session.
The market opened at 2,979.6 points and witnessed fluctuations throughout the day. The index hit an intraday low of 2,975.11 points and peaked at 3,036.64 points before settling at its closing figure.
Today’s session saw a remarkable level of trading activity, with 334 stocks exchanged through 311,536 transactions. A total of 68,980,346 shares were traded, resulting in a record-breaking turnover of Rs. 29.95 Arba—the highest ever recorded in NEPSE’s history. Market capitalization also reached new heights, rising to Rs. 47.65 Kharba, while the float market capitalization climbed to Rs. 16.80 Kharba, showcasing strong investor confidence.
Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) stood out with the highest turnover, reaching Rs. 91.33 Crores, and closed at Rs. 985 per share. On the other hand, three companies hit the 10% upper circuit limit during the day.
However, Nepal Finance Ltd. (NFS) faced the steepest loss, dropping by 10%.
Sector-wise, the “Banking Index” led the gains with a solid 5.65% increase, while the “Finance Index” posted the largest decline of 3.05%, capping off a day filled with positive market sentiment.
