NEPSE Index Plummets by 5.18%


The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index closed at 2,651.32 points today, marking a significant decline of 145.05 points or 5.18% from the previous trading day’s close. This sharp drop follows an increase of 40.76 points in the prior session.

The trading day began with the index opening at 2,802.04 points. Throughout the session, the index reached an intraday low of 2,644.85 points and an intraday high of 2,815.94 points before settling at its closing value of 2,651.32 points.

In today’s session, a total of 322 scrips were traded through a record-breaking 271,587 transactions, resulting in a substantial volume of 53,844,237 shares. This activity led to an impressive turnover of Rs. 23.71 Arba, marking the all-time highest turnover in NEPSE’s history. The market capitalization for the day stood at Rs. 42.08 Kharba, while the float market capitalization was Rs. 14.40 Kharba.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) led the market in turnover, achieving a value of Rs. 1.39 Arba and closing at Rs. 849.

In terms of stock performance, Three Star Hydropower Limited (TSHL) was the highest gainer, hitting the upper circuit limit of 10%.

Conversely, eight companies hit the negative circuit today.

All sector indices closed in the red. The “Finance Index” experienced the highest loss, plummeting by 8.27%, while the “Others Index” saw the smallest decline of 1.32%.
