NEPSE Index Falls by 55.86 Points, Continuing Downward Trend


The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index experienced another significant drop, declining by 55.86 points, or 2.06%, to close at 2,646.03 points. This continues the downward trend from the previous session, where the index had already lost 25.46 points.

The trading session began at 2,702.57 points, with the index reaching an intraday high of 2,706.54 points. However, the market quickly slid, hitting a low of 2,637.71 points before finally settling at 2,646.03 points by the day’s end.

Trading volume remained robust, with 327 companies involved in a total of 111,986 transactions. The day saw the exchange of 21,048,911 shares, resulting in a total turnover of Rs. 9.43 Arba. By the close of the day, NEPSE’s total market capitalization stood at Rs. 42.07 Kharba, with the float market capitalization at Rs. 14.77 Kharba.

In terms of individual stock performance, CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited (CHDC) led the day in turnover, recording Rs. 37 Crore in transactions, with its shares closing at Rs. 2,085 per share.

Meanwhile, Hathway Investment Nepal Limited (HATHY) emerged as the top gainer of the day, rising by 8.98%. On the opposite end, Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (USLB) posted the steepest loss, plunging by 7.78%.

Among sectors, the Hotel and Tourism Index faced the most significant decline, falling by 2.67%, while the Investment Index registered the smallest drop of 0.34%.
