The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index experienced a significant drop today, falling by 59.02 points, or 2.28%, closing at 2,529.33. This sharp decline came after a modest gain in the previous session.
Throughout the day, the index showed volatility, starting at 2,607.86, reaching an intraday high of 2,608.43, and dropping to a low of 2,517.79 before settling at the closing value.
A total of 329 stocks were traded in 77,153 transactions during the session. The total trading volume amounted to 13.53 million shares, generating a turnover of Rs. 5.66 Arba.
Nepal Finance Limited (NFS) led the turnover list, with shares worth Rs. 21.13 crore being traded. NFS shares closed at Rs. 1,420, making it the stock with the highest trading value for the day.
Himalayan Hydropower Limited (HHL) posted the highest gain for the session, with a 9.84% increase in its share price. However, four companies recorded the session’s biggest losses, reflecting mixed performance across different sectors.
In terms of sector performance, the Finance Index saw the largest drop, falling by 5.56%, indicating pressure on the financial sector. On the other hand, the Mutual Fund Index experienced the smallest decline, slipping by just 0.48%.
