The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index closed at 2,661.09 points today, marking a decline of 20.46 points, or 0.76%, from the previous trading day’s close. This comes after a session of significant positive movement, where the index gained 113.42 points.
The trading day started with the index opening at 2,706.73 points. During the session, the index reached an intraday high of 2,737.68 points and an intraday low of 2,655.15 points before settling at its closing value.
Today, a total of 325 scrips were traded through 222,660 transactions, resulting in a substantial volume of 47,790,837 shares. This activity led to an impressive turnover of Rs. 19.60 Arba, marking the fourth-highest turnover in NEPSE’s history. The last notable turnover exceeding Rs. 19 Arba occurred over three years ago, during the bull market on June 13, 2021, when the turnover peaked at Rs. 19.55 Arba. The market capitalization for the day stood at Rs. 42.22 Kharba, while the float market capitalization was Rs. 14.61 Kharba.
Shivam Cements Limited (SHIVM) led the market in turnover, achieving a value of Rs. 61.12 crores and closing at Rs. 616.
In terms of stock performance, Nepal Finance Ltd. (NFS) emerged as the highest gainer, recording a 9.77% increase.
Conversely, Aarambha Chautari Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ACLBSL) experienced the steepest decline, falling by 8.35%.
Analyzing the sector indices, only two sectors ended the day in positive territory. The Finance Index led the gains with a 1.88% increase, while the Trading Index experienced the highest loss, declining by 4.54%.
