The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index surged to 2,696.65 points today, marking a significant rise of 35.55 points, or 1.33%, from yesterday’s close. This increase comes after a previous session that saw a drop of 20.46 points.
The trading day began with the index opening at 2,669.41 points. During the session, it dipped to an intraday low of 2,609.02 points and peaked at 2,709.89 points before settling at its closing value.
Today’s session witnessed the trading of 329 scrips across 206,643 transactions, leading to a substantial volume of 40,371,778 shares. This resulted in an impressive turnover of Rs. 17.26 Arba. The market capitalization for the day reached Rs. 42.78 Kharba, while the float market capitalization stood at Rs. 14.78 Kharba.
Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) led the market in turnover, achieving a value of Rs. 60.10 crores and closing at Rs. 695.30.
Among the top performers, six companies saw their stock prices increase by 10%. On the other hand, Asian Hydropower Limited (AHL) experienced the steepest decline, falling by 10%.
In sector performance, four sector indices ended in the red. The Hotel and Tourism Index led the gains with a 5.99% increase, while the Banking Index recorded the highest loss, declining by 0.76%.
