Nepal Declares Public Holiday for Krishna Janmashtami, NEPSE to Remain Closed


The Government of Nepal has declared a public holiday today, 10th Bhadra, in celebration of the Hindu festival Krishna Janmashtami. As a result, the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed for the day. Regular trading at NEPSE will resume on Tuesday, 11th Bhadra 2081, starting at 11:00 AM.

Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Krishnashtami, Janmashtami, or Gokulashtami, is a significant annual Hindu festival that commemorates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. Krishna is revered in various Hindu texts, including the Gitagovinda, where he is described as the supreme God and the source of all avatars.
