    Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has responded to the accumulation of excess liquidity in the banking system by issuing another reverse repo. After previously issuing reverse repos on two separate occasions, NRB has now introduced Rs. 20 Arba on Tuesday. The reverse repo is a monetary tool utilized to absorb surplus liquidity and bring stability to the system. Considering there is approximately Rs. 40 Arba of excess liquidity in the system, this marks the fourth reverse repo issued by NRB during the current financial year.

    Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SLBSL) has scheduled its 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) to take place on the 22nd of Ashad, 2080. The AGM will be held at The Dhulikhel Lodge Resort in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchowk, starting at 11 AM.

    One of the key agenda items to be discussed and endorsed during the meeting is the distribution of a 15% dividend for the fiscal year 2078/79. The board of directors has proposed to distribute the dividend based on the company’s paid-up capital of Rs. 13.20 crores. This includes 10% bonus shares worth Rs. 1.32 crores and a 5% cash dividend amounting to Rs. 66 lakhs. Additionally, the election of four directors from the promoter shareholding group and two directors from the public shareholding group will be conducted.

    The AGM will also cover the endorsement of the auditor’s report, including profit and loss statements, financial reports, and cash flow reports. An auditor for the fiscal year 2079/80 will be appointed, and full authority will be granted to the Board of Directors or a designated person to carry out any necessary tasks related to mergers, acquisitions, and amendments to the Articles of Association.

    It is important to note that the book closure date has been set for Ashad 14. Therefore, shareholders who are recorded before this date will be eligible for the dividend payout and are invited to attend the AGM.

    The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has initiated the process of formulating the monetary policy for the upcoming fiscal year 2080-81. In line with the financial budget announcement for the same fiscal year, the central bank has commenced its work on preparing the monetary policy.

    To gather input and recommendations for the monetary policy formulation, the NRB has started accepting suggestions until Ashad 10 at the Department of Economic Research. This step reflects the bank’s intention to incorporate various perspectives and expertise into the policy-making process.

    The recently unveiled budget, presented on Jestha 15, sets a target of achieving a six percent economic growth rate. In order to support the government’s goal, the central bank plays a crucial role by crafting an appropriate monetary policy that provides the necessary support and measures.

    It has been revealed that the NRB plans to unveil the finalized monetary policy during the first week of Shrawan, 2080.     Nepal’s trade deficit for the first ten months of the current fiscal year has remained at Rs. 12.04 Kharba, according to the recently released Nepal Trade Statistics by the Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 15.85% compared to the trade gap of Rs. 14.31 Kharba during the same period in the previous fiscal year. Both imports and exports have also witnessed a decline of 16.78% and 24.49% respectively when compared to the corresponding period of FY 2078/79.

    During the first ten months of FY 2079/80, Nepal’s imports amounted to Rs. 13.35 Kharba, with petroleum products being the top imported commodity, followed by crude soya bean oil and crude palm oil. On the other hand, the country’s exports reached Rs. 1.3 Kharba, experiencing a significant drop compared to the previous year’s figures.

    It is noteworthy that Nepal’s trade deficit has narrowed in the review period, indicating some improvement in the overall trade balance. However, the decline in both import and export values suggests challenges in the external trade sector, which require attention and strategic measures to promote trade growth.

    SAHAS has generated revenue of Rs. 21.80 crores from the sale of electricity. However, the company has experienced a significant increase in administrative expenses, reaching Rs. 1.67 crores by the end of the third quarter. Additionally, finance expenses for the company amounted to Rs. 14.71 crores during Q3 of FY 079/80.

    The paid-up capital of SAHAS is Rs. 3.50 Arba, and it has Rs. 2.36 Arba in reserves and accumulated profit. The company’s earnings per share (EPS) ratio is Rs. 10.10, and the net worth per share is Rs. 167.53. The quarter-end price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio for SAHAS is 69.03 times.     SAHAS has completed the construction and testing of the 83 MW Solukhola (Dudhkoshi) Hydropower project in Solukhumbu. The commercial production of electricity from this project began on 2079/11/17.
