    During the past week, the NEPSE index experienced significant gains, closing at 2,263.92 after an impressive rise of 78.99 points, equivalent to 3.79%. The previous week had also seen a positive performance, with the index closing at 2,084.93 and recording a gain of 1.73% from the week before that.

    Throughout the week, the index displayed volatility, fluctuating between its highest point of 2,177.76 and its lowest point of 2,079.39, resulting in a total volatility of 98.37 points. This marked an increase in volatility compared to the previous week, which had witnessed fluctuations of 71.91 points.

    The substantial gains in the NEPSE index during the week indicate positive market sentiment and investor confidence, contributing to the overall growth in the stock market.

    Last week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) traded for only four days due to the Bakrid holiday on Thursday. The week ended with the NEPSE index closing at 2,150.99, marking a gain of 95.46 points or 4.64%. In the previous week, the index closed at 2,055.53, experiencing a 0.66% gain compared to the week before. Throughout the week, the index reached a high of 2,204.93 and a low of 2,057.37, showing a volatility of 147.56 points. The previous week had a lower volatility of 78.65 points.

    The Nepal Insurance Authority has licensed two more microinsurance businesses.

    At its meeting on Tuesday, the authority’s board of directors voted to provide licenses to two more micro insurance companies. The authorities have given licenses to Protective Micro Insurance Ltd Nepal and Crest Micro Life Insurance Ltd.

    Asian Life Insurance Company Limited (ALICL) has scheduled its 15th Annual General Meeting for the 18th of Baisakh, 2080. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. that day in Hotel Classic Simara, Bara.

    Among the other items on the agenda, the AGM will approve an 8.947% dividend of Rs. 26.01 crores for fiscal year 2078/79. The board of directors decided today (Falgun 30) to distribute 8.50% bonus shares and a 0.447% cash dividend (for tax purposes). The value of the bonus shares is Rs. 24.71 crores, and the cash dividend is slightly more than Rs. 1.30 crores. ALICL’s current paid-up capital is Rs. 2.90 Arba.

    This week, the index reached a high of 1,936.43 and a low of 1.864.99, resulting in 71.44 points of volatility. In the previous week, the index experienced volatility of 55.81 points.

    Sagarmatha Jalvidyut Company Limited’s initial public offering (IPO) was completed today at Prabhu Capital Limited’s Kamaladi headquarters.

    Out of the total 43,68,000 units authorized for the general public, 10%, or 436,800 units, have already been issued and distributed to Nepalese people working abroad, 5%, or 218,400 units, have been put aside for mutual funds, and 3%, or 131,040 units, have been set aside for firm workers.

     

    The remaining 35,81,760 units were distributed to the general population between the 8th and 12th Chaitra, 2079.

    Following the IPO, the company’s paid-up capital will be Rs. 1.12 Arba. Moreover, the promoter-public share ratio would be 51: 49.

    The problem has received 13,93,153 genuine applications.
