    NEPSE Index Records Moderate Gain, Highest Turnover in Five Months


    The NEPSE index concluded today’s trading session at 2,037.06, registering a gain of 16.42 points from the previous day’s closing. This represents a percentage increase of 0.81%. Notably, the index had shown significant growth of 34.17 points in the previous trading session.

    Starting at an opening value of 2,020.15, the index reached an intraday high of 2,067.10. However, it also experienced a dip, touching a low of 2,015.19 before settling at 2,037.06 by the end of the day.

    During the trading session, a total of 275 scrips were exchanged through 79,461 transactions. The overall volume of shares traded amounted to 12,561,440, with a total turnover value of Rs. 5.01 Arba. This marks the highest turnover in the past five months, with the previous highest recorded on January 12, 2023, at Rs. 5.47 Arba.

    Among the traded stocks, SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) witnessed the most trading activity and recorded the highest turnover of Rs. 28.17 crores. The closing market price for SHIVM shares stood at Rs. 525 per share.

    Two companies, namely Khaptad Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (KLBS) and City Hotel Limited (CITY), experienced significant gains and reached their respective positive circuits.

    On the other hand, Rastriya Beema Company Limited (RBCL) faced the highest decline of 5.62% in its share value during today’s trading.

    Among the sector indices, six closed in the red zone, with the “Others” sector gaining the most at 2.35%. The “Development Bank” sector experienced the highest loss at 0.96%.

    Overall, the NEPSE index displayed a moderate gain, accompanied by a substantial turnover that reached its highest level in five months. The trading session saw notable performance in specific stocks and sectors, highlighting the dynamic nature of the market.

    Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) has released its third-quarter financial report for the ongoing fiscal year 2079/80, showcasing a net profit of Rs. 25.44 crores. This marks an increase compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year when the company earned Rs. 19.64 crores.

    Notably, HRL has experienced a significant surge in net premium, which has grown by a remarkable 612.61%. The net premium now amounts to Rs. 3.38 Arba as of Q3 of the current fiscal year.

    In terms of its financial reserves, HRL holds Rs. 13.69 crores in the insurance fund and Rs. 1.50 crores in the contingent fund.

    Furthermore, the company’s income from investments, loans, and other sources has witnessed growth, reaching Rs. 15.75 crores by the end of the third quarter of the current financial year.

    The annualized earnings per share (EPS) ratio of HRL stands at Rs. 4.85, reflecting its profitability, while the net worth per share is reported as Rs. 107.47.

    HRL maintains a paid-up capital of Rs. 7 Arba and has accumulated a reserve and surplus of Rs. 38.58 crores.

    Nepal Republic Media Limited, the publication house behind Nagarik Nepali Daily, Republica English Daily, and Shukrabar Weekly, is closing the issuance of its Initial Public Offering (IPO) today, on Jestha 30, 2080. The IPO opened on Jestha 26, 2080.

    The company has an issued capital of Rs. 96.75 crores, out of which 44.99% or 43,53,000 unit shares worth Rs. 43.53 crores have been allocated to the general public. Among these shares, 10% (4,35,300 units) were specifically issued to Nepalese citizens working abroad, while 4% (174,120 units) have been reserved for the employees of the company. Additionally, 5% (217,650 units) of the total shares on offer have been set aside for mutual funds. The remaining 35,25,930 units are available for the general public.

    Mega Capital Markets has been appointed as the issue manager for this IPO issuance. The minimum application quantity allowed for both the general public and Nepalese citizens working abroad is 10 units, while the maximum quantity is set at 500 units.

    According to the Central Depository System and Clearing Limited (CDSC), a total of 983,200 applicants have applied for a combined total of 10,743,740 units as of yesterday evening. This indicates that the IPO has been oversubscribed by a factor of 2.96 times so far.

    Infomerics Credit Rating Nepal Limited (Infomerics Nepal) has assigned Nepal Republic Media Limited an issuer rating of IRN B+ (Is) [Single B Plus (Issuer)]. This rating suggests a higher risk of default in terms of timely financial obligations.

    Nepal Republic Media Limited, incorporated in August 2008 as New Republic Media Private Ltd and later converted to Nepal Republic Media Ltd in June 2021, is the first media sector company to issue an IPO to the general public. The company, founded by Mr. Binod Raj Gyawali, aims to disseminate news through its various publications.

    Chhyangdi Hydropower Company Limited (CHL) has submitted an application to the Securities Exchange Board of Nepal (SEBON) to add its right shares to the pipeline for preliminary review.

    The hydropower company intends to issue 100% right shares amounting to Rs. 38.67 Crores. This will be achieved through the issuance of 3,869,775 (1:1) units of right shares to its existing shareholders. Currently, the company has a paid-up capital of Rs. 38.67 Crores. Upon the successful adjustment of the proposed right shares, the paid-up capital of the company will be raised to Rs. 77.39 Crores.

    BOK Capital Market has been appointed as the issue manager for this right share issuance. The application for the issuance was submitted to SEBON on Jestha 22, 2080. The approval and subsequent details regarding the timeline and pricing of the right shares will be determined after the completion of the SEBON’s preliminary review process.

    Today, the NEPSE (Nepal Stock Exchange) index closed at 2,020.64, marking an impressive increase of 34.17 points from the previous trading day’s closing. This gain of 1.72% is particularly notable, considering the index had already gained 7.79 points yesterday. In fact, the index concluded at its highest level in 3.5 months, surpassing the levels seen on February 27, 2023, when it stood at 2,023.54.

    The trading day began with the index opening at 1,989.43 and reaching its intraday low at 1,977.52. However, it rebounded strongly, reaching a high of 1,972.00 before finally closing at 2,020.64.

    A total of 270 scrips were traded via 70,759 transactions, resulting in the exchange of 10,801,693 shares with a turnover amount of Rs. 4.12 Arba. This turnover amount represents a significant increase compared to the previous trading day’s turnover of Rs. 2.88 Arba. In fact, it is the highest turnover recorded in almost 5 months, since January 18, 2023, when the turnover amount reached Rs. 4.98 Arba.

    Among the traded shares, SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) had the highest turnover of Rs. 27.66 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 506.50 per share.

    Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) saw a notable gain of 10% and hit the positive circuit for the day, demonstrating a positive market sentiment.

    On the other hand, Prabhu Smart Fund (PRSF) experienced the highest decline, losing 3.93% during the trading session.

    Despite the fluctuations, all sector indices closed in the green zone, with the “Manufacturing and Processing” sector witnessing the highest gain of 4.32%. The “Banking” sector recorded the least gain, with an increase of 0.61% during the trading day.

    The IPO allotment process of Rawa Energy Development Limited, a hydropower company, has been completed at the premises of Prabhu Capital Limited in Kathmandu.     Prior to the IPO, 2,80,000 units worth Rs. 2.8 crores were allocated to project-affected locals of Khotang District. However, only 31.2% of the applicants were allotted shares, leaving 192,330 unsubscribed units. These shares were combined with 560,000 units (20% of the issued capital reserved for the general public), resulting in a total of 752,330 units available for the general public.

    Among the 752,330 units, 56,000 units were issued to Nepalese citizens working abroad, 37,616 units were reserved for mutual funds, and 15,047 units were allocated to company employees. The remaining 643,667 units were offered to the general public.

    The IPO received an overwhelming response, with 10,77,740 valid applicants applying for a total of 11,564,590 units, resulting in an oversubscription rate of over 17.96 times. Through a lottery system, 64,366 applicants were allotted 10 units each, while seven lucky applicants received an additional unit. Unfortunately, the remaining 10,13,374 applicants were not allotted any shares.

    Additionally, 37,616 units were allotted to mutual funds, and 15,047 units were allocated to company employees. However, 1,07,466 applicants, who had applied for 14,21,800 units, were disqualified by CASBA members due to reasons such as duplicate applications for the local issue and foreign employment.

    CARE Ratings Nepal Limited (CRNL) has assigned Rawa Energy Development Limited an issuer rating of ‘CARE-NP BB (Is)’, indicating a moderate risk of default in terms of timely financial obligations in Nepal.

    Rawa Energy Development Ltd, initially incorporated as a private limited company on August 16, 2009, and later converted to a public limited company on June 28, 2019, is promoted by experienced individuals in the hydropower and other sectors. They have successfully operated the 3 MW Upper Rawa Khola Small Hydropower Project (URKHP) in Khotang District since September 20, 2020. The project was constructed under the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer) mechanism.

    In terms of trading activity, 285 scrips were traded through 49,944 transactions. The total shares exchanged amounted to 7,454,007, with a turnover of Rs. 2.88 Arba. This figure represented a decrease compared to the turnover of Rs. 3.45 Arba recorded in the previous trading day.

    Soaltee Hotel Limited (SHL) accounted for the highest turnover of Rs. 15.28 crores, with its market price closing at Rs. 375.30 per share. The shares of SSHL were the most actively traded.
