According to the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Pampha Bhusal, the renovation and reopening of the Bhimsen temple in Lalitpur’s Patan Durbar Square is helping to improve the country’s image both at home and abroad.
Damage to the temple dedicated to Bhimsen had occurred as a result of the Gorkha earthquakes that occurred in 2015. The local community has taken the initiative in the restoration of the temple, which is thought to have been constructed in the 4th century.
The Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a ceremony at Bhimsen temple today to install a stone roof on the temple. Minister Bhusal praised the efforts of the local community, which came up with the slogan ‘Let’s build our heritage on our own’ and raised funds and recruited human resources to rebuild the heritages and monuments that were damaged in the earthquake.
‘The temple did not remain in a state of vulnerability for an extended period of time because the villagers mobilized to reconstruct their earthquake-damaged monuments,’ she explained, adding that this effort had conveyed a positive message to the community.
