Nepal Stock Exchange Reports Decline: NEPSE Index Drops 1.32% with Red Sector Performance


The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index concluded the trading day with a decline of 27.84 points, representing a loss of 1.32% compared to the previous day’s closing. This downtrend followed a minor loss of 2.48 points in the preceding trading session. The day began with the index opening at 2,110.56, experiencing fluctuations throughout the day, with the lowest point recorded at 2,074.05 and the highest at 2,110.55.

Trading activities saw 303 different stocks being exchanged in a total of 66,107 transactions. The volume of shares traded amounted to 11,483,617, accumulating a total turnover of Rs. 3.94 Arba. Market capitalization stood at Rs. 32.70 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 11.13 Kharba.

Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Ltd (UPPER) emerged as the top performer in terms of turnover, generating Rs. 50.89 crores and closing at a market price of Rs. 187.90.

In terms of notable gains, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) and Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MLBS) led the pack with a 10% increase, followed closely by Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (GLBSL) with a gain of 9.92%. Conversely, Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SMFBS) experienced the highest loss, recording a decrease of 6.02%.

In sector indices, all sectors closed in the red today. The “Life Insurance Index” reported the highest loss of 2.65%, while the “Mutual Fund Index” saw the least loss of 0.53%. This overall downward trend across sectors reflects the prevailing market sentiment and dynamics observed during the trading session.
