It has been revealed that HMD Global, the company that produces Nokia smartphones, would become the official smartphone partner of the Kathmandu Kings XI (KKXI) in the Everest Premier League (EPL), Nepal’s domestic Twenty20 cricket event.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth edition of the tournament was originally scheduled to take place last year; however, it will now take place from September 25th until the ninth day of October this year. HMD Global, based in Finland and the sole licensee of the Nokia brand, wants to bring people together and leverage KKXI for its marketing initiatives in order to further promote its brand in the country. HMD Global is the official licensee of the Nokia brand in the country.

Former world-class cricketers Shahid Afridi and Sandeep Lamichhane will reconnect as team-mates for the KKXI, which will be led by Sandeep Lamichhane. There will be a total of six teams competing in the tournament: the Bhairahawa Gladiators, the Biratnagar Warriors, the Chitwan Tigers, the Kathmandu Kings XI, the Lalitpur Patriots, and the Pokhara Rhinos. International athletes such as Shahid Afridi, Rayyan Pathan, Oshada Fernando, Richard Levi, and Seekuge Prasanna will be among the players on the roster, as will be Rayyan Pathan and Oshada Fernando.
The EPL 2021 season will begin on September 25th, with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKXI) taking on the Lalitpur Patriots on the first day of play on September 25th.
