The card features an AFC-enabled tap function based on Near-Field Communication (NFC), allowing customers to make payments at POS terminals, according to the bank.
Payments can be made using this technology by merely tapping the POS system from a short distance without having to insert a card. Customers will be able to preserve personal distance when paying with this contactless card for the current COVID-19 risk reduction, according to the bank.
This system can currently handle transactions of up to Rs 2,000, according to the bank.
Customers can access banking services through 90 branch locations, 78 ATMs, and 10 extension counters operated by Bank of Kathmandu.
