Baburam Bhattarai, the Federal Council Chair of the Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal, has emphasized the importance of establishing national unity in order to steer the country towards long-term peace and transformation in the country.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal Rupandehi in Butwal today, he stated that the creation of an alternative force was essential for the country’s progress as well as for the improvement of the living standards of the general public.
The former prime minister argued that the only way out of the country’s current predicament was through the establishment of a central socialist force. Bhattarai stated that people were disheartened and that confusion had emerged as a result of the absence of economic, social, and cultural transformation in the country, and he urged that the country move forward by creating unity among political forces in a new way.
He also expressed concern about the deterioration of democratic norms and ideals among the political parties in the country, which he attributed mostly to the power-centric politics of the political parties in power. As an example of this trend, Bhattarai pointed to the current issue in the Supreme Court. For the preservation of national unity and sovereignty, he pushed for a new socialist paradigm, emphasizing the need for the formation of a progressive political force to accomplish this.
In a statement, the party’s senior leader Ashok Rai said the party has launched a four-month organization strengthening drive in an effort to improve the living standards of the people.
During the campaign, Rai stated that the party would take its ideas and methods to the people and would also listen to their opinions.
